Free Music Notes for GorillazFree Music Review: A Stoner's Paradise Hit: 5 Stars
Probably the most definitive part about the album is the mood itself - very chill, relaxing. Even the hip-hop elements which can sometimes tend to be agressive here are very laid back. Such is exhibited in Del's or Russell's delivery - and does any male vocalist have a more relaxing voice than Damon Albarn now adays. (little side note - check out some of Blur's stuff, very good). However, while these above elements are nice, this is Dan The Automator's finest hour. The beats are crafty and shifting, unlike redundant monotonous ones found on most rap and r&b records. Very bassline dominated, yet very multidimensional. Dr. Octagon, Handsome Boy Modeling School, Deltron 3030, and now this. Not only do you get CD, but you also get special access on the Gorillaz website - pretty damn cool. A highly underrated collaboration that I would not mind hearing more from. Buy this album for it's well-roundness, attention to detail, and most importantly - mood.
Free Music Review: Untapped Brilliance Hit: 5 Stars
The Gorillaz are probably one of the best Collaberation groups ever and have brilliant and talented Music, I simply love this group, they are so underrated and sadly ignored and baffled by MTV goons who love Good Charlate. If you do yourself a favor and get this album you'll be doing your self a great favor. I love this group so much, there probably the second best Musical group ever next to Massive Attack...
The best songs in this brilliant Album is Rehash, 5/4, Tommorow Comes Today, Clint Eastwood, Sound Check, New Genious, Dracula,
And the 2 really awesome songs are M1A1, Left Hand Suzuki method..
This is just untapped brilliance that everyone should check out. Who are the Gorillaz exactly? Well I can't really explain but I WILL tell you this, the cartoon characters drawn out for them are awesome and resembles who they are. Check this ablum out, it's amazing..
5 out of 5 stars..
Free Music Review: Very different, needed in everyone's collection Hit: 5 Stars
Gorillaz. The very thought of a successful cartoon band sounds very weird. Yet this group has made it to the very top of the charts, and is finally getting recognition in the states. If you have ever heard Blur, you would love Gorillaz, since the lead singer's (2D) counterpart is Damon, the lead singer from Blur. The songs are very creative, and each song has a different feel. From the raps songs "Clint Eastwood" and "Rock the House", to fun mellow songs like "Re-Hash", "19-2000", "Brother", and "Tomorrow Comes Today". If you like the feel of "Latin Simone", but don't like the Spanish vocals, I would suggest buying "G-Sides", for it has the english version. The cd is one of the best of 2001, and certianly one of the most creative. This is one cd everyone can enjoy, and I guarentee you'll be hearing alot of Gorillaz in the future.
Free Music Review: A Breath of Fresh Air Hit: 5 Stars
It seems alternative music has been in a rut for a while, but Gorillaz arrives with an original and much needed album. Nearly each track features an great combination of instrumentals and vocals and most songs have such an appeal that it's hard to get tired of this album. There are attempts for some balance between moody, somber tunes like "Tomorrow Comes Today" and "Gravity" and more energetic songs like "Clint Eastwood" and "M1A1." The only true weakness to be found here is a sense that some songs aren't as complete as they should be. One senses that with a little more effort here and there, some songs could have been hits on their own. But maybe this wasn't the point. Gorillaz set out to make to a fresh, experimental album fusing various styles while providing music with a breath of fresh air. Overall, they succeed, and give fans a great music experience.
