Free Music Notes for GorillazFree Music Review: Refreshing Change of Pace Hit: 5 Stars
Since I don't live in the UK, I wasn't all that familiar with Blur, except for a couple of songs. And after watching the "Clint Eastwood" video on MTV2, I thought that it was cool to look at and listen to. But since this is a high-concept project, I was skeptical that a whole album could be produced by an "animated" band that was any good.Boy, was I wrong. This album rocks! It's a wonderfully creative and totally original dark mix of rock, punk, and hip-hop, with a little foreign language song thrown in. The beats are infectious and the sounds are all over the scale and kind of weird. The best tracks include "Tomorrow Comes Today", "Clint Eastwood", "Double Bass", "Rock The House", "19-2000", "Dracula", and "Left Hand Suzuki Method". After the last track comes 2 1/2 minutes of dead silence before we get the Ed Case/Swetie Irie remix of "Clint Eastwood". I don't know why we get silence, but don't turn off your CD player after the violin fades out.Parents should not be put off by the "Parental Advisory" sticker. Except for a couple of F-word utterances, this album is harmless. You probably won't miss much if you buy the edited version. I wish I could see more videos, but MTV and MTV2 have only played "Clint Eastwood". This album is a wonderful departure from the usual prepackaged pop and rap.
Free Music Review: Great Sounds + dark funny comics = 5 Stars CD! Hit: 5 Stars
Gorillaz catch me when i was looking MTV watching the Clint Eastwood Video. I recognize Damon From once. I always thought that Damon or in less, the Albarn projects, are real original and greats. When i began to understan de idea of the Gorillaz, with the other 3 members i inmediatily bought the CD before it was too late. Too late because i thought that this will be a "radio-media-explosion". But after i realized that Gorillaz concept is just for people with a little more of "mature-thinking". It's the perfect album that introduces you to a dark world, but without terrible scractches, and distorsions..."Latin Simone" it's Dark latin...."M1A1" is great, with the great intro. Even the Funny "19-2000" is really catching. All songs are different between them....and all are good ones... The great voice of 2Damon Albarn with the great sounds of Rusel Funky Homosapien and Noodle yamamoto, all comanding by the Dark and satanic Murdoc Hewlett....Makes this as a album that you have to buy, just for General culture....Even if you don't like music. I recommended to you, once you have this one, go and obtain the songs "Dracula" (the only "reggae" song that i like), "12D3" and the "Latin Simone" singed by 2D.... I'm sure that -at less- 3 songs will be on your stereo constantly....
Free Music Review: GREAT CD!!!!!!!!! Hit: 5 Stars
This is the best cd that I heard in a long time. I feel like I have been waiting for this cd to come out for like ever...only I just started getting into Gorillaz about a month ago. This is one of the 4 cds that I absolutly love. I only wish Gorillaz would get the attention they deserve. I have some favorites on this cd...they're all good though. Tomorrow Comes Today is a really pretty song with great music. Clint Eastwood is of course everyone's favorite...the song that got Gorillaz started in the first place. Russel is a great rapper and 2-D is the best male singer that I've ever heard (haha). Sound Check(Gravity)is probably my favorite song on the cd. It has really awesome music and 2-D sings like an angel LoL. I think you can even heard a little bit of Russel in the background but maybe that's my imaginattion.... 19-2000 is the coolest song I have heard in a very long time. I love the music becuase it's spunky and the fact that Noodle is one of the main singers in this song really rocks. I like Cibo Matto a lot and Miho is great. It's about time she got some singing time! Starshine is pretty too...it reminds me of Sound Check(Gravity). M1 A1 is a really mad cool song excpet for the "Hello is anyone there" part. It's a real rock song LoL! Even though these are only a few of the songs on the cd everyone song is great. Definatly worth buying!
Free Music Review: Awesome... Hit: 5 Stars
I'm a huge Blur fan. That's what first lead me to this cd. I've followed everything they've done, be it Graham Coxon's solo stuff, or Damon Albarn's soundtrack talents for "Ravenous."Then, the icing on the cake: Kid Koala, turntablist extraordinaire. If you are at all into underground (i.e., true) hip-hop, you've probably already come across Deltron 3030's release featuring Kid Koala and Del the Funky Homosapien, along with about 200 other guest appearances. If not, check it out at once. And for a TRUE showcase of Kid Koala's talents, check out his solo cd on the Ninja Tune record label, "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome." It is beyond awesome, and simply amazing. This, giving its background, could not miss. It doesn't. From start to finish, it is incredible. I remember first seeing the video for "Clint Eastwood" on MTV2. If the animation and humor of these guys don't get you, the music certainly will. Tripped out music with cool, almost indifferent, vocals. The beats, and samples are, as always with the Kid, without fault. Definitely give this one a go. And, as a special bonus, the cd comes as an enhanced cd, with some very cool animation, and even better wallpaper and screensaver additions. With this cd, you will be given the key to Murdoc's Winnebago. Next stop, figure out how to use it to get in. Enjoy.
