Free Music Notes for GorillazFree Music Review: Gorillaz rule! (PLEASE READ MY REVIEW) Hit: 5 Stars
If anyone thought Gorillaz, the first animated band, would be bad, YOU THOUGHT WRONG! Let me show you why:Re-hash(10/10)A great easy-listening song. Should be a single. 5/4(10/10)A great song and one of my favorites! Tomorrow Comes Today(9/10)This is an OK song. Not good enough for a single, though. New Genious(Brother)(8/10)I don't see the purpose for this song. Clint Eastwood(10/10)Not quite the best on the allbum, but good enough for a 12" single. Man Research(Clapper)(10/10)A perfect song! Punk(10/10)The best song off of the album!(well, 1 of 'em, at least). Sound Check(Gravity)(8/10)OK. Double Bass(10/10)Read what I said for "Punk." Rock The House(10/10)Read what I said for "Punk." 19-2000(10/10)Great beat and great lyrics. Better than "Clint Eastwood." Latin Simone(4/10)BAD! Starshine(6/10)BAD!(well, the lyrics and voice are both bad, but, hey, nice beat!) Slow Country(100/10)Better than "Punk," "Double Bass," and "Rock The House!" VERY best off of the album! M1 A1(10/10)Great song and fit for a single. I even like the "HELLO?!" part. Dracula(9/10)OK. Left Hand Suzuki Method(7/10)Most of the lyrics(XCGRHGGGBNBGBHFGHGGHGGGFF...)I don't understand, but awesome beat(...)
Free Music Review: Outstanding!!! Hit: 5 Stars
I first known about this band when I saw all the big displays at a music store in a mall. Oh great! I thought. Another hyped-up commercial bit to push to the kids. I assumed they used a collection of bad music to hype up the cartoons. It never occured to me that real talent was behind it. So I saw all three videos including "Clint Eastwood" on a Friday night on cable. (One of the few times I got away from my friends on a Friday night to watch cable.) I was impressed so a few days later I bought the CD. I have not regret it. The three videos gave me the idea the music is different on each track. I was surprised I was right. Every song is different and defies description. I loved all the songs on the video and there are other gems on this CD as well like "Slow Country" and "Dracula" it is Albarn's vocals that seem to tread all these songs together. I guess the best description to this music as "Zombie Underground Hip/Hop". I agree with other reviewers that this is a great album for driving. It is music to play when you are at a Starbuck, you gaze over your Vaio laptop and see an urban wasteland. So what! I choose to live in an urban wasteland. The sound is perfect for it.
Free Music Review: Rock Gorillaz Hit: 5 Stars
I have never been much of a Blur fan, though some of their songs did strike a chord somewhere. However, Blur frontman, Damon Albam who fronts this 3D virtual band, did invoke my interest. The novelty lies in the fact that Gorillaz is a virtual band, you wont see them in person in videos, no live concerts...just music. Bu then no just your plain old rock music. In fact, the album shines beyond the novelty.
The songs on this album is much more diverse than Blur's own. A concotion of pop, rock, and even hiphop, all nicely rolled into a package. Blur fans may shun this as Damon opts for a visibly more comercial path, but then it's still way better than your run-of-the-mill teen pop. Where Blur has previously failed to penetrate in the USA, Damon does it with Gorilaz. The album is #16 and gold in the US.
Excellent tracks include Clint Eastwood, Today Comes Tomorrow, and the big smash 19/2000. Lacking here is the upbeat remix of 19/2000 (soulchild). But you'll be able to find the remix of Clint Eastwood (Ed Case) as a hidden track after Track 17. Included on this version are two bonus tracks and an enhanced track. Check out their string of animated videos, funny! Worth parting your $ for!
Free Music Review: It's the music that we choose! Hit: 5 Stars
This is a really great CD IMO. Mine has tracks 18 & 19, but I don't think it's a limited edition import or anything. Anyway for those of you who are strictly limited to fast up-beat alternative or heavy metal you need to think outside the box and listen to some Gorillaz: The Ultimate Chill Out Music! My favorite song on this CD and probably overall of Gorillaz is Tomorrow Comes Today. It's got a really great beat and the tune is really catchy. That's one thing about Gorillaz. You can't listen to an entire CD of theirs and not walk away with one of their songs stuck in your head. No matter what album this will happen to you. Other songs I find particularly good are Clint Eastwood (of course), Man Research, Double Bass, Sound Check, Latin Simone, 19-2000, Rock the House, and Left Hand Suzuki Method. I'm not sure why but the Soulchild remix of 19-2000 and the Ed Case version of Clint Eastwood aren't listed for this CD. They're really good (The soulchild 19-2000 is the theme song for a Fifa game and is on an Ice Breakers commercial). If you're interested in thinking outside the rock n' roll box than definately check this CD out.
Free Music Review: Can't descride it Hit: 5 Stars
Okay, lets see...I was at camp, and it was time to pack up, and everyone started singing "Clint Eastwood" (and they killed it. There are only four [cartoon] people who can sing it without killing it) I said "What kind of song is THAT! Whoed make that kind of song!" and the said "Gorillaz" Then I saw the CD at my friends house and played it and it wasa great! My dad got it for my brother, becouse it's not as, um, dirty as some other CDs. Not clean, but not that dirty either. Song 17 is Clint Eastwood played super fast. Oh, and I've heard people telling me the meaning of life, but I couldn't understand it. These guys have a clear definitoin: "to go for what the definition of what life is" They're right! I never thought about it! Anyways, some songs are just silly (Dracula) Some songs are creepy (M1A1, "HELLO, IS ANYONE THERE?!!") Gravity keeps switching from nice and calm ("grav-it-t-t-t-ty...") to HARD! ("DON'T GET ME DOWN!!!") Me and my brother made an inside joke about Clint Eastwood. (It involves a camp prank)
