Free Music Notes for La Revancha del TangoFree Music Review: Sonia Was Right Hit: 1 StarsSonia E. Garcia wrote an accurate review below. These guys are fluff, pretenders-to-the-throne. Instead, check out "I've Seen That Face Before (Libertango)" on Grace Jones's "Nightclubbing" album. It predates this album by over twenty years and runs circles around this half-hearted stuff. Grace Jones singing Piazzolla!! Wonderful! Or check out Piazzollas own albums. The real deal.
These guys? Not so good. No fire, no soul, no breathng, no nothing.
Free Music Review: Epoca is just out of the world Hit: 5 StarsIf you can dance the Rumba try it on Epoca.
Free Music Review: The same sound...over and over again...boring!!! Hit: 1 StarsI bought this Cd, with hope of hearing something ingenious, but i was dissapointed :( I'm a big fan of many types of music, so i'm not being bias. But there seems to be a lack of energy in this album, it just drags, due to its lack of originality. We have the same effect and mood in each song, that is what makes it a drag.
I was first impressed with the beggining of the Song Epoca, but after listening to the song completely, we hear the same rhythm through the whole song, more creativity please. I say this because many reviews praised this album as genius or superb, etc.. and its not. Gotan project is one of those groups who wants to be creative and different. However, there attempts to do this did not happen, there a rules of music, you don't mix tango with whatever they mixed it with? Its okay to do a couple of song, but not the whole album, i know the album is called "La Revancha Del Tango", but it sucks. This is my first time hearing about this band, and its my first cd i bought of them. But i don't like any of the singers voices, its all low out of-tuned and rhaspy, they're not singing. The woman who sings sounds like she carefully singing and working hard to stay in tuned, don't like her voice.
Well i'm dissapointed, i want my money back, but its too late to get that, my cheap ass bought this cd in amazon, used, so i'm stuck with it. Hopefully with the rest of these positive reviews someone might buy my Gotan Project Cd.
I know this sounds mean, but i have to speak from heart. This is how i feel about wanabbe trendy bands, who think they are not trying too hard, but they are.
Sonia
bye
Free Music Review: A new injection of creative breath ! Hit: 5 StarsFor all of those who still think the tango is only tradition, there are bad news. Astor Piazolla was the untiring stalker who renewed and even widened the frontiers locals of a badly seen dance in the Twenties (As a matter of fact, Jorge Luis Borges termed it once a brothel `s reptile) and considered as a simple curiosity of sensuality 's exercise to become an authentic referential evidence, a musical genre that dressed showy clothes, expanding its action radius toward new horizons.
This recent ensemble has know to employ the essential roots of the forbidden fruit, blending it with new musical inflexions and enraptured hues. And more than a simple revenge, I think it constitutes a true revaluation of the expressive possibilities of a musical genre that only can be understood from the wise perspective wedged by Maria Luisa Bemberg a very gifted filmmaker who expressed accurately a painful true: "The Argentine 's tragedy turns around the fact is seen as a Latin American in Europe and an European in Latin America." That duality is even worst than a simple emigration or a banishment: I would term The Flying Dutchman 's syndrome, conceived as the incapacity to enroot with the land.
The crown track of the album is the fantastic version of the Last Tango in Paris, but there is still more to enjoy.
If you are still grasped the old concept of the tango as the elemental desperate anguish `s scream of unfinished passions, please remember this smart statement of Gustav Mahler: "Traditionalism is negligence."
