Free Music Notes for LunáticoFree Music Review: A Taste of Tango Hit: 4 StarsSultry, alluring, upbeat, slow then fast and dramatic - each track is very different. The sound quality is great throughout. Remember the Pink Panther first movie and that feel of elegance and class? It oozes from this CD. Not only will our cultured Latino friends dig this, but anybody who is alive and has felt the passion for the Tango will enjoy the memories you never had while listening to this.
Free Music Review: Fantastic Hit: 5 StarsI must admit, I have not had the pleasure of listening to Gotan Project in the past but this is a great start. If you like the mellow tango groove, go for it!! I absolutely love some of the more vocal tracks as well. These guys really know how to put a fun cd together. This is not music that I can dance too though, so don't buy on that premise. Its not up beat in anyway. Its creative.
Free Music Review: interesting music Hit: 5 Starsi really didn't know what to expect when it bought this, but i enjoy the music. it's very rythmic. a sultry kind of low key cocktail lounge music.
Free Music Review: Heat... by way of the cool. Hit: 5 StarsI bought their first album, La Revancha del Tango, on a whim when my favorite D.C. haunt, Olssons Books & Records, was playing them over the store's speakers. The store's music buyer, Werner, was always good at recommending music from classic blues to "electronica" and Revancha was haunting. It is *still* growing on me. While I was excited to learn about the new album, I was also a bit wary as Revancha was so very, very good. I am glad to say that Lunatico actually bests the first album. I am fond of thinking of music as venues so consider "Amor Porteño" a quietly intense tango bar, "Differente" its wildly exhilarating opposite, "Notas" your private living room's dance floor (you're embarrassed by how it makes you want to move), and "Celos" that first date cafe with the man you've been dreaming of... And kudos to them for their powerfully poignant "Paris, Texas" with its pounding drums and wrenching piano and accordion sounds. HIGHLY recommended.
Free Music Review: SF under a groove..new dance music and beyond Hit: 5 StarsGotan Project is a nice example of good instrumentation in dance music right now. I bought this album because I love a good mix of tango fusion, electronica, and dance. The production is rich and writing is quite good and with interesting melodies from South America with that French touch electronica sound.
I was looking on Amazon for something more underground and I found these records called the "under a groove," series records.
Paris under a groove, and San Francisco under a groove. These are great for the breakbeat, jazz and funk electronica dance collection. These have many cool artists like St Germain, Miguel Migs, Florian, Terrasse Tranquille, Will Felt. etc. Both a great listen. Take care and enjoy.
