I first heard Santa Maria a few years ago and finally found the artist and album...it does not disappoint!

Each cut on this cd is filled with excitement and great, blazing color. This group's transnational personality couples Brazil's sexy tango heritage with the cool nightlife found in Paris dance clubs, and cafes all along the Mediterranean. The group personnel is a superb mixture of the above, and the sound they generate is spectacularly good. Listen to "Last Tango in Paris" and you can hear what the movie could have been and almost was, but fell short of. ...Gotan Project awesome I discovered them listening to KUT public radio in Austin, in Eclecticos the morning music program. The CD is just great. It has the flavor of Tango with that modern contemporary twist but more importantly with the Urban feeling of Buenos Aires, everytime I listen to it in my long car commute I feel there at home in B.A....the same that when I listen to Piazzola.It's the future of Tango and it is the revancha....Free Music Review: Gotan Project started a small revolution

When GP produced this work in 2001, they never imagined the impact in Argentina's artists. Since then, a quiet revolution has been taking place in a genre where Piazolla in the 60s-70s made the last renovation. This is a hard one to explain, I fell in love with this album right away, it's culture behind it, the classic tango sound, blended with a electronica/trip hop-ish style kicked into classic rhythmic move your hips flow.
I personally love this album and know that if you have a taste for tango, or even trip hop/electronica, this will probably please the hard to please.
