Free Music Notes for Grand Funk Railroad - Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: Not the best of their stuff
Hit: 3 Stars

This doesn't even scratch the surface of their great stuff. You can make a greatest hits just from their first two albums. Rated low for content.

Free Music Review: Grand Funk Love Note
Hit: 4 Stars

Great compilation, by a great band from a different era. Stands up to the test of time, and a worthy add to the rotation.

Free Music Review: Another penny drops...
Hit: 4 Stars

I don't buy many discs these days for the "total package" but rather, for one song or another...in this case "I'm Your Captain", which is on my all time top 100 list...problem is that I listen to so many types of music that I often miss the title of songs that I like a lot, but rarely hear anymore because they're from long ago...now, this disc is very good, so in addition to the song I wanted, "I'm Your Captain", I also got some others that are VERY worthy of my listening time...much like Mott The Hoople's All The Young Dudes, 'Captain is a song I'd walk to Kansas or beyond for, if that's where I had to go to get it...if you're from Kansas, feel free to take offense :-)

Free Music Review: Grand Funk Rairoad CD

Awesome. I have been looking for this CD for a LONG time. Thank you so much!

Free Music Review: Close, but no Cigar
Hit: 4 Stars

I enjoy Grand Funk's music. Several of their songs got a lot of airplay in the early 70s. The group was considered to be in the same genre as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, and the group was typically unpopular with critics. This particular collection is one of the better ones available, though it remains less than perfect.

The easiest way to satisfy most Grand Funk fans would be to put all 20 songs that charted to 1976 into one collection. Then we would all be happy. I personally would have been happy with just one or two more songs from the aforementioned 20, particularly "Feelin' Alright." Until the 20 song collection of all charting songs happens, this CD is probably your best best. Of course, if you are missing a favorite song you have one of two choices. Either get the collection that contains your favorite song, or get the album that has that song, which is also a good idea.

Grand Funk was one of the hardest rock groups of their day. Sometimes described as the loudest rock and roll band in the world, Grand Funk was one of a very small number of bands that helped evolve rock into heavy metal. Fans of hard rock and classic rock should have at least one collection from this wonderfully talented group.

Enjoy!
