Free Music Notes for Ladies & Gentlemen: The Grateful Dead

Free Music Review: Ladies and Gentlemen...A great recording
Hit: 5 Stars

I have to say, this is one of the best albums I have ever heard. I own several different live recording of the dead from various stages in their career, and if you like the early stuff this is the album for you. It is slightly dissappointing that Micky Hart wasn't on stage for thie venue, but Bill makes "Drums" interesting none the less. Also, on of the greatest jams ever (in my opinion) of Dark Star, St. Stephen, Not Fade Away, and Going Down The Road Feeling Bad. I love this album.

Free Music Review: It just keeps getting better
Hit: 5 Stars

Its amazing that a group that was at its peak years ago has so much good material that has yet to be heard. This disc takes you back to the great concerts of the 70's. Most notably you get a wonderful example of what the group was like with Pig Pen. (pre Godchaux).

The classics are done with a different style than the other recordings. And there's some stuff you haven't heard check out "second that emotion" and good lovin. Most of all smile, smile smile.

Free Music Review: Wow.
Hit: 5 Stars

I have tapes of a couple sets from this run, but it's great to hear the CDs. This is excellent stuff from top to bottom, and it includes one of my favorite Grateful Dead moments of all time. Listen closely as the band runs through Alligator, Drums, a hot-hot-hot jam that includes a St. Stephen tease and then eases in to Goin' Down the Road. That stuff just isn't done anymore, so we have to be happy to have it preserved.

Free Music Review: awesome
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the best recordings of live dead, sound qualitywise, and an excellent, excellent set list. I actually so far have only heard the first two (Okay, i burned the first two and dont have the second two) but notwithstanding, these are awesome songs. Great blues from pigpen, incredible guitar from all, superb, allof them, really. Also, ripple and many other lesser played songs- cant wait to get the second two

Free Music Review: My favorite live dead album
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a great collection of much of the grateful dead's work. Pig's version of "turn on your lovelight" on here is the best version i have heard of the song. "bertha" is flawless here, as is "china cat sunflower". This is the best live dead album i have heard, and ive heard alot, if you have the money and are new to the grateful dead, or just want a collection of the dead at their best, buy this set!
