Free Music Notes for The Golden Road (1965 - 1973)Free Music Review: Dead When They Mattered Hit: 5 Stars
This is the box set that does the Grateful Dead justice. These are the years when the Dead were a dangerous unpredictable musical force whose concerts were explorations of various musical forms, and whose studio albums spanned the gamut from "Anthem Of The Sun" to "American Beauty". This is a wonderful tribute to when the Grateful Dead mattered. This collection includes great early stuff, live material, along with a whole string of great albums. This is the package that best explains why the people who there at the beginning know that there was "nothing like a Grateful Dead concert."
Free Music Review: Mutimaman Hit: 5 Stars
This 12 CD box set is absolutey incredible. Don't let the cost intimidate you or keep you from buying it, because it's more than worth it. There is a ton of bonus material (over 7 hrs. total) added to each cd that you can't find anywhere else, unless you have some bootlegs. I can't say enough positive things about this box set, but I'm sure everybody else has already said them anyways. This is by far the best musical investment I have ever made. Buy this box set for over 15 hrs. of musical ecstacy.

This is a beautiful piece of work to own. Not only are the cd's sounding wonderful, but there is sooooo much extra material to listen to and to read with each cd -plus the included cd Birth of the Dead!. I am so impressed with the layout of the set and the sheer value of it. This set is one to own and take care of. Buy it!! if you order from the dead merchandise site you get another bonus cd and playing cards. worth the effort !
