Free Music Notes for Grease (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Free Music Review: GREATEST Soundtrack Ever? YES
Hit: 5 Stars

This soundtrack rivals Saturday Night Fever as the best soundtrack of all -time.But if I had to make a choice this late 70s gem about highschool in the 50s is my choice! Ironically the title song grease (sung by frankie vallie) is written by barry gib, the singer/ songwriter of the bee gees. Gib and the BeeGees made the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack what it is! This Grease soundtrack fires on all cylinders.Actor John Travolta and singer Olivia Newton-John come alive singing Summmer Nights. The big hit Hopelessly Devoted To You seems to hit home for all those highschool teenyboppers in love!!The other big hit from this blockbuster Youre The One That I Want is sung by both Travolta and John with such passion and fire. There are so many hits on here ,its hard to list them all! The 70s group Sha Na Na checks in here with quite a few songs, such as Those Magic Changes and Born to Hand Jive. The latter song is quite a nice song if you are in the mood to really cut a rug!Frankie Avalon also makes an appearance in here with Beauty School Dropout! Overalll 24 pure hits you don want to miss out on !! We Go Together like bop shooo bop shoo bop etcccccc!!!!

Free Music Review: I luv this soundtrack!
Hit: 5 Stars

Our Jr. High and high school choir did Grease for our pops concert. I'm not a big fan of 50s music but my music teacher, Mrs. White made us listen to just about every song so we could learn the words. I first I didn't like any of the songs. But after listening to the soundtrack for about 3 months, it grew on me and I luv it now! The Jr. High choir did back-up vocals for "Grease", did back-up vocals for the high school on "Summer Nights", the Jr. High girls got to do back-up vocals for the 2 guy soloists on "Beauty School Dropout", and the Jr. High guys got to sing and dance to "Greased Lightin'". The high school choir sang the rest of the songs. The girls had to wear poodle skirts and the guys had to wear tight blue jeans, black leather jackets, and white T-shirts. Mrs. White taught us choregraphy and sometimes had to call early morning practice at 7:00 a.m. so that was a real drag. The concert was March 24 and it was a big hit! I luv this soundtrack!

Free Music Review: It's "The One That I Want" !
Hit: 5 Stars

Grease was a excellently done production. And it has the best soundtrack of all soundtracks!!! Music today isn't the way it used to, and the tunes on this CD take you back to the rockin and rollin fifties where Travolta and Newton-John turn out to be good singers in these well-put together tunes.

The cast knew that "You're The One That I Want" was going to be a hit. Indeed it was. It's my favorite track on the CD!!!

I also enjoyed "Grease", "Summer Nights", "Hopelessly Devoted To You", "Sandy", "Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee" and the reprise, "Greased Lightnin'", "It's Raining On Prom Night", "Blue Moon", "Born To Hand Jive", "Mooning", "Freddy My Love", "Rock N Roll Party Queen", "There Are Worse Things I Could Do" and "We Go Together". A wonderful soundtrack not to be missed! Five stars!

And as the years get farther away from the days of the fifties, this CD will be there to bring teens of the future back to the days of "Rama lama lama ke ding a dinga dong"

Free Music Review: Great Memories Resurfaced
Hit: 5 Stars

Given all the hype surrounding the upcoming revival of "Grease", I decided to pull out the smash #1 soundtrack version from 1978 and relisten to an album I played non-stop almost thirty years ago.

Sure the cast is a bit old for their respective characters, but John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John & Stoccard Channing were terrific.

Based on the stage version from the early seventies, the soundtrack wisely included new songs written specifically for the screen version: "Grease" (#1), "Hopelessly Devoted To You" (#3), "Sandy", and "You're The One That I Want" (#1). The songs remain fun & fresh-sounding - even today.

Best tracks:

Grease
Summer Nights
Hopelessly Devoted To You
You're The One That I Want
Sandy
Beauty School Dropout
Look At Me, I'm Sandra Dee
Greased Lightning
Born To Hand Jive
There Are Worse Things I Could Do
We Go Together

Free Music Review: My First album......still a classic........
Hit: 5 Stars

I recieved this album on cassette way back in 1979(after hearing the music on the radio and seeing the movie)....and I've listened to it every year since then. A perfect mix of oldies from the 50's and originals written for the film. John Travolta has never been more appealing on record(before or since) and Olivia showed us.....well, she just plain old showed us she can do anything she wants to musically. "Hopelessly Devoted To You" is beautifully sung by Newton-John and beautifully penned and produced by John Farrar.....I think of all the songs on this album THAT is the one I love the most......"You're The One that I Want" is still a lot of fun and unforgettable as well. The title track written by the Bee Gees and sung by Frankie Valli instantly takes me back to the good old days and makes me want to watch the movie for the zillionth time......this cd is like an old friend to me and it has never let me down!
