Free Music Notes for Grease (Original 1978 Motion Picture Soundtrack)

Free Music Review: Grease Is The Word
Hit: 5 Stars

This soundtrack had great music for all ages. I know, I know. This is not the typical teens repsonse.

I'm performing in the [school play] Broadway version, and this soundtrack has helped me to learn my songs and get my tune correct!

I absolutely love this soundtrack. If you're a fan of the movie, or just a fan of Summer Nights, this soundtrack is for you!

Free Music Review: One of the best movie soundtracks of all time
Hit: 5 Stars

Grease is a great movie and has great music. It has some new recordings of 1950's music and has good 1970's music in it as well. If you like the 70's and 50's this is a must, and if you like dancing/comedy/old school movies the movie and the CD are a must, guaranteed.

Free Music Review: Fun look back
Hit: 4 Stars

I'll start by saying I love this movie. I've seen it many times and will see it many more time in the future. Unfortunately, I find the album to be a collection of some great songs and a lot of incidental music that doesn't make for an entirely pleasurable listening experience.

The biggest gripe I have is that after all these years, they STILL haven't corrected the running order of the songs. "You're the One That I Want" was not the 4th song in the movie; it was one of the last performed. How could they get this wrong and, worse yet, how could they have not corrected this?

Songs/Incidental music that could have been omitted:
-Beauty School Drop Out
-Sha Na Na songs (I like Sha Na Na, I just don't think they needed to include them on the sound track)
-Likewise the Cindy Bullens and Louis St. Louis songs. The album would have been just fine without these songs.

I think the album could have been much more focused and enjoyable had they included only those songs performed by the characters in the movie (Olivia Newton John, John Travolta, Stockard Channing, et al). I think their performances are incredible and really make the movie what it is/was. The rest is just filler.
