Free Music Notes for 21st Century Breakdown

Free Music Review: Absolutely The Most Perfect Album of the Past Decade
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is, in my opinion, the most perfectly constructed album of the past decade! A mixture of Green Day sounds from all previous releases, 21st Century Breakdown also obviously weaves a story that's thinly veiled and suppose to be about 2 lovers Christian and Gloria (at least on the surface) but with each listen, there's more menacing political and religious questioning going on here.

My favorites (at least this week) on here:

East Jesus Nowhere
Last of the American Girls
Murder City
21st Century Breakdown
Static Age (a nice melodic homage to early 50's-60's pop musically)
Horseshoes and Handgrenades

Though I'm getting a bit sick of seeing them splayed out all over major TV to push this release, I can't wait to see them on their first tour stop in Seattle on July 3!

Free Music Review: Great Continuation from American Idiot
Hit: 5 Stars

For fans of American Idiot, the long-awaited album from Green Day will not disappoint.

Upon initially hearing the first single, "Know Your Enemy", I was a little hesitant that Green Day had hit a snag in their creativity. Luckily, I discovered that "Know Your Enemy" is probably one of the weakest songs on the album (just as I felt "American Idiot" was one of the weaker songs on American Idiot). The other 17 tracks have a great variety in style, and so far I'm finding I enjoy it even more than I did American Idiot right away.

For fans of Dookie and other earlier Green Day albums: No, it's not the same sound and style. As a fan of both the earlier albums and their latest albums, I find there's still plenty of fun songs, and you can't help but admire the way Green Day can still craft a song after well over a decade.

Free Music Review: Green Day strikes again!
Hit: 5 Stars

As a long-time Green Day fan, I cannot help but be ecstatic about their latest album. Though a big fan, I will still try to be neutral.

This album, among all the Green Day albums, is definitely the one that can be enjoyed by the widest range of people, in my opinion. I think old fans as well as new fans will find many things to appreciate throughout the 18 tracks.

Though not as punchy as Insomniac, interesting as Nimrod, flowing as American Idiot, familiar as Warning, or instantly classic as Dookie... 21st Century Breakdown finds a balance within all the qualities of Green Day's music and provides a fresh and satisfyingly catchy musical experience.

If you like music, buy this CD.

Free Music Review: Classic Greenday Album!
Hit: 5 Stars

Who would have thought that Greenday would have built a musical legacy this long and of such a high quality eh?! They were the first real gig I went to when they toured Dookie and every album they've released since has been great. This new addition to the catalogue is excellent. It combines all their previous musical ideas and expands on Billy Joe's love affair with concept album lyrics. There's a bit of extra production techniques similar to American Idiot such as pianos, strings, guitar layers, extra backing vocals and even more simple guitar solos from Billy Joe! You can't complain about Greenday - they are consistent in their musical style and sound and they know how to entertain. Song highlights include the infectious "Know Your Enemy", the awesome groove of "Before The Labotomy", and the killer track "Peacemaker". Enjoy!

Free Music Review: Green Day continues to amaze!
Hit: 5 Stars

Green Day continues to amaze me as they grow and mature! Each succeeding album just keeps getting better! A truly great band does not keep using the same formula that initially got them recognized. Dookie was a great album! But, how long do you keep using the same formula for each succeeding album? I am amazed at some of the reviews complaining about how Greed Day has gotten away from the "Dookie" sound? How boring would a band be if they just kept recycling the same album style. The Stones and Beatles would never have been great bands if they just kept turning out "Love me do" and "Satisfaction" sound alike songs. I find those kind of reviews to be very boring since they don't say anything except "It does not sound like the first album"! I would hope not! Breakdown is another breakthrough!
