Free Music Notes for 21st Century Breakdown

Free Music Review: Vigilantes warning ya, calling Christian and Gloria!
Hit: 5 Stars

Since everyone is doing it, let's make the comparison to American Idiot. As good as American Idiot was, I think this CD is better - a cohesive, more interesting story line and better songs.

Perhaps the best thing about this CD is the way many songs re-visit Green Day's previous sound without duplicating it. They're staying true to their sound while moving forward creatively, an almost impossible feat.

I won't name favorite songs because there is something for everyone and my favorites are changing day to day. But two songs that seem to be underappreciated in other reviews that I really like are The Static Age and American Eulogy.

Give this CD at least two listens straight through and it will likely become one of your favorites.

Free Music Review: Green Day 21st Century Breakdwon
Hit: 5 Stars

I hadn't heard any of the songs from this album. I bought it mainly to support the band. They had the balls to tell Wal Mart to go stuff it. They refused to buckle under Wal Mart's pressure to censor their music and I give them 5 stars, 2 thumbs up and one major shout out for taking freedom of speech over caving into socialism and a pay off. The music was pretty good. Not what I expected from them totally but good. Support this band. And not the ones who cave into the "sold ONLY at Wal Mart"...I will decide what I want to hear...not some multibillionaire who uses 3rd world slaves to produce their goods but then calls themselves the "family store" plus tell you what THEY want you to do with your own music or products. Thanks Green Day. You're a ray of hope.

Free Music Review: Oh please ...
Hit: 5 Stars

Everyone has the right to their opinion. I get that. What I think is simple minded are the reviews on this site and others, that are either straight out "Green Day haters", punk purists that don't get they are an ironic caricature of conformity by being so, or Green Day fans who are stuck in Dookie land because they don't like anything that isn't Dookie. If you don't like this album because you don't like this album, then fine. But I can't for the life of me believe that many of the more negative reviews were generated after an honest listen, or any listening. This albums is hardly American Idiot, an album which I love, other than its a concept album. It's better. There are all kinds and types of songs, something for just about everyone. It's bloody amazing.

Free Music Review: Green Day has done it again!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm pretty sure in my "American Idiot" review, I said that Green Day was at the peak, and would never outdo themselves. Well, I'm not so sure about that now. 21st Century Breakdown is another epic masterpiece, crafted by the new Kings of Rock -- Green Day.

The band decided to go more straightforward pop rock on this album, but it's not bubble-gum, "get us on the radio" kind of pop. It's melodic, yet complex enough that you're not thinking of Nickelback or Sugar Ray while listening to it. There isn't ONE song on the album that's a "clunker". Each and every song on the CD is strong both melodically and lyrically.

Green Day really put together a winner here, and it was WELL worth the wait.

When I started listening to this, I was like "Okay, American Idiot+The Who=21st Century Breakdown, whatever." But after listening through all the songs and learning a couple lyrics, I've really started to enjoy this CD. I'm not sure if it's BETTER than American Idiot, but it sure is great. :) Seriously, buy this album. There's only one song I never really liked, "Christian's Inferno", but that's just me. There are some AMAZING songs on 21st Century Breakdown, so please don't judge it with it's previous single, Know Your Enemy. (Not the best track. Good, but not great.) My recommended are Peacemaker, Before the Lobotomy, and Viva La Gloria. And that's just my top 3! I love almost every song on this CD, so go buy it! xD
