Free Music Review: One Of The Best Albums I've Ever Heard!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm not a Green Day fan.

I want to get that out first so that anyone reading this doesn't just think I'm a rabid Green Day fan pumping up an album from their favorite band. I've got nothing against the band, mind you. They just haven't been on my radar.

Okay, that said, I want to state for the record (no pun intended) that this album is one of the best rock albums I've heard in my lifetime. Every song is catchy, inventive and is a fantastic melding of instruments and lyrics. There's not a song here I don't like. Personal favorites are Horseshoes and Hand Grenades, 21st Century Breakdown, Static Age, Murder City, 21 Guns. But I love them all. Even the bonus track, Lights Out, on the Japanese import is great!

It's rare these days to find an album this strong with no filler. Although I was pulling for AC/DC (my personal favorite band) to win rock album of the year, it was no slight to lose out to Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown. If you like rock music, you'll like this album. It's an instant classic and one our grand kids will be listening to.

In a word: amazing!

Free Music Review: Green Day takes off.... big time
Hit: 5 Stars

After a few listens, a tend develops... for me
Starting with track 7, Last Night on Earth, this CD takes off!
Track 8, East Jesus Nowhere, great beat, lyrics and flow
Track 9, Peacemaker(my personal favorite),
Track 10, Last of the American Girls (great track, sounds a little like what the Beatles and Beach Boys would sound like if they did a track together.... very cool)
Track 11, Murder City, great lyrics lot's of energy
Track 12, Little Girl, love this track as well, lyrics, instruments, vocals, has it all
Track 13, Restless Heart Syndrome, ballad of ballads, great lyrics again, this song will be around a long time.... classic
Track 14, they're not f****** around...
Track 15, The Static Age, solid, fun track
Track 16, 21 Guns, another track destined to be a classic, this track has it all, will probably become their biggest hit
The first 6 tracks, tracks 17&18 are solid as well, just not up to tracks 7- 16... in my opinion.
Highly Recommended CD, even if you're not a Green Day fan!

Free Music Review: Green Day Growing Up
Hit: 5 Stars

I have been a casual fan of Green Day since Dookie. With American Idiot I became a full out fanatic. American Idiot became the soundtrack for my family as we dealt with what Hurricane Katrina did to our hometown of New Orleans. Then to have Green Day do so much for New Orleans after the storm just made me an even bigger fan. I pre-ordered 21st Century Breakdown and listened to it hoping for another American Idiot. 21st Century Breakdown is not exactly the same but is still a layered, thoughtful set of songs about more than just partying and bucking authority. Are they "punk"? If labels are all you care about then please go somewhere else. Billie Joe has grown up, has kids of his own, and is a unique talent with an interesting point of view. He also has a ton of energy, and with Mike and Tre performs the GREATEST rock concert ever. This band deserves to be listened to and enjoyed, and in this year of the Beatles even Green Day has a song or two that give a nod to the lads from Liverpool. One of the best bands still making real music.

Free Music Review: Believe in Green Day
Hit: 5 Stars

I believe in Green Day. Not only are their roots in punk rock, they were punk and still are. Look at their subject matter. Calling a sham a sham, a ripoff a ripoff, and sadness . . . a sadness. They know things are going backwards, and we are bankrupt in more ways than one. They wish they could change things, but doubt they or anyone can. That's punk rock. It doesn't matter how much money a person has, it's what's in their head and heart that matters. And what they choose to do with it. They take huge risks, and it pays off because it's genuine, something almost no other hugely popular contemporary band is. You don't write great songs if you're fake. Their ability to inspire others is strong. They get under your skin and what is true grows in you . . . Someday, somewhere, someone Green Day inspired will make a difference. You watch. -- Another great album by one of my favorite bands ever.

Free Music Review: Welcome Home Green Day!
Hit: 5 Stars

Admit it, a couple of years ago we were all thinking "how the f*@k are they going to follow up 'American Idiot?'". It was a flawless album that rocked and punked its way through the charts and through our hearts. We were all feeling the Bullet in a Bible . . .etc etc. Then, we heard that Green Day was back in the studio. What would be the product? Can they top American Idiot? Can they come close? Did they jump the proverbial shark? The answer : Hell no. 21st Century Breakdown picks up and exceeds where American Idiot left off. The songs are tight. The music is awesome. The musicianship of the band is perfect. The writing is amazing. Green Day continues to meet and exceed expectations with each subsequent release. The question now is . . how will they top this one? Aw, nevermind, I'm too busy rocking out to 21st Century Breakdown to care!
