It would seems easier in this day and age. Punk/Pop music with somewhat articulate lyrics. Why is it so few bands can pull it off? Green Day does, and in spadesFree Music Review: it makes me proud of my generation's music

ive never given a thought to Green Day before this... in fact ive spent a lot of time complaining about the state of modern music, thinking "my parents had great albums produced for their generation, what do we have?" and then by accident i stubled upon American Idiot. This alum is a work of brilliance, with a dynamic range of styles, moods, and unforgettalbe songs. The music manages to be bold but at the same time pretty subtle (for instance, "extrordinary girl" hints at Indian music just barely with its procussian intro, but doesnt overdo it like so many songs do when trying to emulate that often-used sound). The music seems to race forward with youthful urgency, and anthemic choruses ring out with instantly memorable melodies that sound like songs people could be singing in the bleachers at football games years from now. it sounds like something that could be absorbed into american youth folklore.
i would put the songwriting in the category of Beatles-quality, and thats not a compliment i give easily. it seems like my generation finally has an album with the same brilliance as Sgt. Pepper or Dark Side of the Moon had for my parents' generation... we have American Idiot, and i'm proud of that.

My 15 year old son played this in my car and I love it. He gave me the CD for my birthday (52nd) and Holiday has become my favorite song. Also Homecoming is like a mini-rock opera. In fact the whole thing reminds me of a sped-up Quadrophenia by the Who. The protagonists even share the name "Jimmy". Looks like Billy Jo is a "WHO" fan, or maybe his dad was before he died.
Anyway, I jam with my buddies occasionally and we're putting Holiday and Blvd in our repertoire.

At first some of this album was weird to me but i kept giving it a listen
and it grew on me.Green day is not controlled in fact they are united with
alot of underground bands against president bush.thats proof that they do what they want.So if you think they sold out you dont understand the human mind.If this is how they wanted this album to sound then thats what is gonna happen.They do what they want not what the fans want.remmember that.they krpt some of that old green day sound in their.

How did I become a big fan of Green Day? I'll give you a hint. It is damerican pidiot but take away the first letter of both words. That's right, this CD American Idiot! It is aweosme! My favorite track is Holiday (track 3) so listen to that one first then look at the others. It is very cool and anybody would like it! It is soft, (kind of) rock, and others! This might be the best soundtrack ever!
