Free Music Notes for NimrodFree Music Review: Best Green Day! Hit: 5 Stars
I've bought all of the green day albums, because i looked around and couldn't make up my mind which to buy. but i can tell you, having listened to them all, that Nimrod is the best by far. i know people's opinions will be different... Insomniac is good because it is the most punk of all the albums, but it seems to short and i tended to play some tracks and leave some out. dookie is a good album but the songs are very similar to each other. but good if you liked 'basket case' more than '86'. this is a classic album though, if you are a green day fan you must have it! 1,039 smooth is a good album, but very early. there are alot of tracks that are very skater punk sounding, they are quite similar to each other but very good. kerplunk is probably the least good of all green day albums, but it is still good of course. it has good songs like the cover of 'my generation' which is very good. Warning is a good album, because it's so different to all of the others. the songs are more mellow, and the sound is more acoustic. but if you only want the earlier stuff, don't get this one. Nimrod is, in my opinion, the best. it has all the punk of insomniac along with some slower stuff which is just as good. 'scattered' is my favourite track, with some great harmonies. 'take back' is a fast paced hard core track. 'king for a day' has great lyrics, and accompanied by horns it's a strange one, but i love it. 'prosthetic head' is brilliant, you'll never get tired of listening to it. 'platypus (i hate you)' is fast paced and angry, billie joe's lyrics are brilliant. i was going to list all of the songs, but i love them all so it would take too long. just trust me, this album is the best. you won't regret buying it.
Free Music Review: Great, But Different Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is a lot different than other Green Day Cd's in the past, but it is still awesome. The songs have many different chords than Dookie. You'll never get tired of it becausethere are 18 songs and it is 50 minutes long! Here are rundowns of all of the songs:1. Nice Guys Finish Last- an explosive CD to start off the album. 2. Hitchin' a Ride- Another great, short song. 3. The Grouch- this song has the most bad words in it than any other song. Oh well, it's still great and very funny. 4. Redundant- a slower song that's one of my favroites. 5. Scattered- Not the best, but still good. 6. All the time- This song's pretty good but not the best. 7. Worry Rock- This song is awesome! 8. Platypus- A fast and to the point song. Good luck figuring out the lyrics cause they dont have them in the lyric book. 9. Uptight- Not as good as some of the others. 10. Last Ride in- A wonedrful all-instrumental piece. 11. Jinx- Another funny and fast song. 12. Haushinka- this song has many different guitar riffs but it's not all pulled together. 13. Walking Alone- An experimental, somewhat folk song. 14. Reject- A great song with good lyrics 15. Take Back- One of my favorites. This one minute song is great if you have just broken up with someone and you're really mad. 16. King for a day- a funny song about a boy who wants to be a girl. It's an experimental piece that has horns in it so it sounds somewhat like a ska song. 17. Time of your Life- The band shows their soft side with this great song, which is still played on a lot of radio stations. 18. Prosthetic Head- MY FAVORITE SONG ON THE WHOLE ALBUM! Great guitar riffs and great lyrics is why this song is my favorite.
Free Music Review: You'd be a nimrod to not get this album Hit: 5 Stars
This CD is one of Green Day's heaviest guitar-wise, and sounds a bit like American Idiot does except with a bit of punk rock applied. Although Green Day gets a little out of hand with language here, it all adds to the overall wildness and rebellion of Nimrod. Except for the mystic instrumental "Last Ride In" and the soft hit "Time of Your Life", Nimrod is pretty much an all-out noise session. One of the better songs, "King For A Day", contains a weird use of horns while sort of trotting along rhythmically and later blasting into powerful electric guitar chords as Billie Joe shouts "KING FOR A DAY!". Then there is the angry song "Platypus (I Hate You)", which is a very fast-paced jam. It contains a series of insults near the end that would quite doubtlessly be edited out on a radio version, as well as a repetitious but enjoyable guitar pattern in the background. When I found out that the aforementioned hit "Time of Your Life" was on the same CD as "Platypus (I Hate You)", I was utterly surprised since they're such drastically different pieces. I'm not quite sure the two soft songs belong on Nimrod since they kind of come rather unexpectedly, but I do like them a lot. "Last Ride In" is a very decent instrumental, and is only one of two instrumentals that Green Day has ever done (the other being "Espionage"). This track features sounds of rushing water, violin, and a cool type of guitar effect that Green Day unfortunately doesn't use that often. Overall, Nimrod is a really great album from Green Day and is probably my third favorite of theirs. Its awesome sense of rhythm and good lyrics make the CD a must have for any hard rock fan.
Free Music Review: Best album I've ever purchased. Hit: 5 Stars
Green Day has been probably one of the best selling bands of the last decade, and Nimrod, though not their biggest seller, is jam-packed with great songs, and nothing but. This is one of the few albums I have heard that I can honestly say that I love every song. "Nice Guys Finish Last" is a wonderfully catchy song, but not exactly parent friendly, followed by the slower "Hitchin' a Ride", the CD picks up again after this with a bouncy number, "The Grouch". "Redundant", though another potential hit, is the kind of song where the chorus is memorable, but it makes you mad because you can't remember the rest of song. After this, Track 5 is possibly one of the coolest songs on this CD, or that I've ever had stuck in my head. It's called "Scattered" and its filled with really neat harmonies that I still haven't mastered in my head. Track 6 is kind of a darker song, or so it sounds, but the next song, "Worry Rock" is another roller, where even if you don't play an instrument, you'll quickly learn how to pretend to. Track 8 and 10 are not the greatest. 10 is an instrumental, and 8 is a loud fast song. The best and most memorable song has to be "Good Riddance (Time of your Life)". Another, though disturbing, is "King for a Day" with some neat trumpets and trombones. "Prosthetic Head" is a very underappreciated songs. Nobody listens to it because its at the end of the CD. All the others are pretty good, but Green Day will have to work hard to top this, and From the looks of Warning, Green Day may finally have found what their looking for.
Free Music Review: Fantasically versatile album! Hit: 5 Stars
This really is great. A large step away from Dookie, this shows just how good Green Day really are. Much more varied than Dookie (hey, i'm not dissing Dookie, just saying this is what you would expect from them after that particular outing!), Nimrod is Billie Joe, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt's message to the world of music. I was really suprised when, whilst listening to the album from start to finish, the track 'last ride in' came on. I thought I had the wrong CD! Green Day? Doing a jazz piece? You'd better believe it. 'Last ride in' is a great track. There are also the punk rock tracks, which are more adventurous than in Dookie, and provide the goose-pimpling brilliantness of Green Day in about half of this CD. The other half is great sounding songs. 'Scattered' or 'Hitchin' a ride' are good examples of this. And then there's.....yes, you know what i'm talkin' about.'Good Riddance', or 'Time of your Life' as it is more collectively known as, is one of the highlights of the album. It is well..... NICE. 'King for a day' a bit of a laugh, with some catchy horns mixing in with the guitars along with lyrics about a cross-dressing boy to make yet another great song. If you don't already have this then buy it. If you haven't heard Green Day play, then nip out and buy this and Dookie, as they compliment each other very well. If you have any other Green Day album then you'll know how good they are, and you'll rushout ... and buy a copy TODAY. ... If you've bought it and you're reading this to see what other people think about it....it's a remarkable album, ain't it?
