Free Music Review: A spectacular B-side collection

When I first bought Shenanigans, I didn't even know it was a compilation of Green Day's B-side tracks. Every song except the fairly crappy "Do Da Da" is just as good as any regular Green Day song, in fact most of them are better. The rhythms on Shenanigans are also significantly different for every melody, with some tunes being slow and swinging (On the Wagon) and some being upbeat and noisy (Desensitized). My favorite song on this CD is definitely "Ha Ha You're Dead", which is most commendable for its great chorus. The chorus features fine lyrics, a quick beat, and a really catchy chord progression. "Ha Ha You're Dead" would probably be one of my top five favorite Green Day songs of all time, closely followed by "Desensitized". "Desensitized" has a sweet intro which features some guy shouting and objects falling over, and then picks up a guitar pattern which eventually leads into a loud and melodically superb chorus. All of the songs featured on this compilation ought to have been on regular albums, because they have such great rhythms and catchiness factors. No Green Day album collection is complete with Shenanigans! I would recommend it very much because it is full of variety, has perhaps the best rhythms of any Green Day CD, and is catchy as usual. I actually owned all these songs (except for "Ha Ha You're Dead") on various singles and compilations before Shenanigans came out. These songs are just as good (and sometimes even better) than the songs released on their four major label albums. "Desensitized" is my second favorite Green Day song ever (only after "J.A.R."). Also noteworthy: the bouncy "Don't Wanna Fall in Love," the slower paced "On the Wagon," and their covers of "Outsider" and "Tired of Waiting for You," as well as the new "Ha Ha You're Dead." I am a little angry however, that they decided to only release the song "DUI" on the Japanese import album. I would have just bought the import except that it's more than twice the price of the regular CD and, being a college student, I don't have that kind of money to spend for just two new songs. I thought that was a pretty sh_tty deal for Green Day fans.
However, every song that IS on this CD is worth every penny. Whether you like the faster, harsher Green Day (check out "I Want to Be on T.V." or "Sick of Me"), or you prefer their newer, more melodic sound (like "Rotting") you'll want to pick up this album.

FOR HARDCORE GREEN DAY FANS, LIKE MYSELF, THIS HAS BEEN A HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ALBUM. IT IS A COLLECTION OF B-SIDES AND OTHER RARE TRACKS BY THE PUNK BAND GREEN DAY. GREEN DAY RELEASED THEIR FIRST ALBUM IN 1990, "1,039 SMOOTHED OUT SLAPPY HOURS", HOWEVER, THEY REMAINED UNKNOWN. THEY STARTED GAINING ATTENTION WHEN THEY RELEASED THEIR 1992 ALBUM "KERPLUNK!" THEY BURST UPON THE MUSIC CHARTS WITH THEIR 1994 ALBUM "DOOKIE" WHICH SOLD MORE THAN 12,000,000 COPIES WORLDWIDE. SINCE THEN THEY HAVE PUT OUT "INSOMNIAC", 1995, "NIMROD", 1997, "WARNING", 2000 AND " INTERNATIONAL SUPERHITS", 2001. ANYWAYS, BACK TO SHENANIGANS. THIS IS AN AWESOME ALBUM. I LOVE IT AND LISTEN TO IT EVERY DAY. IT FEATURES THE CATCHY "ESPIONAGE" FROM "AUSTIN POWERS THE SPY WHO SHAGGED ME", AND THE 1995 WOULD'VE-BEEN-HIT "DO DO DA" (WHICH WAS SUPPOSED TO APPEAR ON INSOMNIAC,LONG STORY) AND 12 OTHER PREVIOUSLY UNREALESED RARITIES. THIS IS A REAL KEEPER FOR ANY GREEN DAY FAN OR ANYONE WHOSE INTO CATCHY TWO AND A HALF MINUTE SONGS ABOUT EVERYTHING UNDER THE SUN. GET THIS ALBUM!!!Free Music Review: Green Day does it again!

Shenanigans, by Green Day, is definitely one of the best buys of the year for many reasons. Basically, it is a compilation album, featuring many songs found on bootleg and bsides. Being a loyal fan for many many years, I've already heard many of the great hits on this cd, such as "Espionage" from the Austin Powers soundtrack and "Desensitized" from the Nimrod japanese import. Throughout the entire compilation, Green Day keeps the fuel burning with many hardcore driven tunes, with catchy melody and heavy guitar progressions. From "Suffocate" for the heavy-punk listens to "On the Wagon" for softcore rockers, this album has it all, pleasing all ears. One of the two new tracks on the album, "Ha Ha You're Dead" quickly won me over upon the first listen. With a tremendous chorus and out-tro, it truly shows Green Day at their best. All in all, Shenanigans is definitely a best buy and I recommend it to all you rockers out there!Free Music Review: haha im the 1st 2 place a review

i already knew 7 of the 14 tracks becuz i own a few of their imports, soundtracks and whatnot, but since i am a BIG friggin green day fan i HAD to pick it up. all the tracks r great. a GREAT cover of a ramones classic "outsider", u would think it was one of their own songs. "i want to be on t.v." has always been a fav. song of mine from green day. the collection also includes a cover of the kinks' "tired of waiting for you", and the last track is an unreleased song titled "ha ha you're dead" which is outstanding. lots of props to the green day cats and their fasinating music. BUY THIS ALBUM! every fan of green day should own it. and by the by, the artwork on this album is the best out of all of their albums. great great great! if you prefer their "dookie" area which wasnt too heavy or too soft, it'll definitly fit you well. but overall if u like green day at all u should purchase this!
