Free Music Review: The genius of Green Day (4.5 Stars)
Hit: 5 Stars

On Nimrod, Green Day started to experiment with their sound and go beyond the simple parameters of pop punk. With the release of Warning, Green Day fulfill their promise of musical exploration and deliver their most compelling and fascinating album yet. Right from the start, the title track shows a side of Green Day that's never been heard before: the smart acoustic guitar, the excellent use of the twangy electric guitar on the bridge, and the various sirens and sound effects let the listener know they're in for a different kind of Green Day album. The best example of their new direction shows on "Misery," a six-minute tour-de-force of several musical styles and instruments, from the French accordian to the Latin guitar and horns, all wrapped up in a brilliant character exercise from Billie Joe Armstrong. Despite this brave new experimentalism, the album is still chock full of great pop songs like the catchy single "Minority," the rolling rhythms of the poingant "Church on Sunday," the wonderfully Kinks-ian "Jackass," and the more serious take on dominatrix love (as compared to the hilarious "Dominated Love Slave" from Kerplunk) on "Blood, Sex and Booze." To finish things up, Green Day closes out the album with two of their most affecting songs yet, the yearning "Waiting" and the somber "Macy's Day Parade," which work as perfect closers to a more mature and meditative disc. The conciseness, the brilliant writing, and the seemless blend of ideas makes Warning Green Day's best album since Dookie and shows just how much this talented band is capable of producing in the future.

Free Music Review: Warning: can't live without warning!
Hit: 5 Stars

I love this album. It is highly underestimated and it is still incredible. I'll give you a play by play:

Warning 4/5- I love this song. A really great acoustic song and a great opener for a great cd.

Blood, Sex and Booze 5/5- Weird. About being whipped and stuff. Really good.

Church on Sunday 4/5- I like this song because it is about making up for bad things that have happened in a realationship and is a really cool song!

Fashion Victim 4/5- About today's latest fashions and what people will do to get in the latest fashion. Really true and that is what makes this a great song.

Castaway 5/5- I love this song. It is upbeat and really cool.

Misery 5/5- When I first heard this song, I thought it was misery. But now, it is my favorite song on the whole cd. Kind of like a godfatherish song. Incredible.

Deatbeat Holiday 5/5- I love this song.

Hold On 4/5- My least favorite song on the album, but still fun to play!

Jackass 5/5- Second favorite song. Really cool.

Waiting 4/5- Most underated single by Green Day.

Minority 5/5- I love the intro/outro guitar in this song and this is also the song that you may notice a little bit of Green Day going political.

Macy's Day Parade 5/5- I love this song and it is a nice closer to on of the best Green Day cds ever!

All in all, a great record to listen to and is highly recommended. Also, check out my review on American Idiot.

Free Music Review: Being High Must Help!
Hit: 5 Stars

Whenever I hear the name "Billie Joe" I get the image of the little singer guy who set fire to a drum kit last August at the Gig On The Green festival in Glasgow, Scotland. I seriously thought he was going to smoke the kickdrum!

Basically, as for the album, it is superb, not many albums get me this hooked, but it really is perfection. Green Day once again, never fail to impress with, deep, meaningful, upbeat lyrics, a vast array of instruments. On this album alone, lead singer and guitarist Billie Joe plays the Mandolin, Saxaphone, Harmoinca and The Guitar. Credit is most definitly due to the guy. Be assured, Green Day cut no corners when releasing albums and it is this integrity, this perfectionism that I admire in the trio. Not to forget their instrumental talents, but Billie Joe is a great singer too.

Songs that stick out for me on this particular album have to be, the outstanding "Jackass" and the funny story of "Blood, Sex And Booze" (trust me, it is a comedy!) Singles are the immensly popular "Warning" and "Minority".

My only one complaint (honestly, I've tried to find one, believe me.) Is that there should have been more singles off this album! but why spoil the album for people by releasing half of it as singles? As all the songs are superb, I can't see you getting disssapointed, so you've got nothing to lose.

Don't be A "Basketcase", "Nimrod" or complete "Jackass", just buy "Warning!"

Free Music Review: Excellent CD. Green Day has changed, not sold out.
Hit: 5 Stars

To begin, I'm sick of people saying that us who enjoy listening to this CD are not real music fans. Maybe we enjoy listening to a CD that's actually melodic, and not just screaming into the microphone. And now, the tracks.

Warning: Excellent track, but doesn't make a whole lot of sense. Oh well, what can you do?

Blood, Sex, and Booze: My least favorite song on the album. The guitar riff in the background is just too repetitive, and Billie Joe sounds like he has nose plugs on.

Church on Sunday: You'll be humming this one for days. It will be stuck in your head whether you want it to or not.

Fashion Victim: One of my favorites. It mixes light and heave guitar riffs just right.

Castaway: Excellent, but not my favorite. A little too fast paces.

Misery: A little like Jewish klezmer music. I could probably get away with playing this at a bar mitzvah.

Deadbeat Holiday: Again, not one of my favorites. Too repetitive.

Hold On: My second favorite song on the album. I love the harmonica opening.

Jackass: Ehh. Very average.

Waiting: I love the syncopated guitar riff. Had me tapping my foot to it relentlessly.

Minority: Wow! A mix of an Irish jig and punk rock. I just wish it could have been longer.

Macy's Day Parade: A rant against corporate takeover of every aspect of our lives. Good way to close out the album, very melodic and with a good message.

In closing, don't buy this CD expecting hard rock, but if you want music you can actually sing along to, pick it up.

Free Music Review: You don't want to skip any tracks on this one!

Beware: I have never heard anything from Green Day besides Time of Your Life. I decided to purchase this album after hearing Church On Sunday and it is no doubt one of my favourite CDs. I can not believe I haven't given these talented guys a listen before now!

All the songs are catchy, deep, up-beat, intelligent with great beats and cool edges.

1. Warning is a song about questioning everything and is the perfect song to start this CD off. 4/5

2. The chorus is extremely catchy and there's deeper meaning. Such a fun song. It's too short, though. 4/5

3. My favourite Green Day song. The instruments and lyrics are amazing. It gives me chills. 100/5

4. Yet a fantastic, up-beat, fun and ironic song about being a fashion victim. 5/5

5. Great chorus. About going at it alone. Not one of my favourites, but still very good. Great solos. 3/5

6. This is a story-song. It's mid-tempo and has a weird tune to it. Poorest track on CD. 2/5

7. Cool song about deadbeat losers. 3/5

8. Another favourite. So catchy and you can relate to. 5/5

9. Great, catchy and fun song about wasting time. 5/5

10. Re-make of the 50s song Downtime. It's raw and original, but not so catchy. 3/5

11. Strong song about authority. No doubt it's Green Day! Extremely catchy. 5/5

12. The only slow song. About putting your heart on the line without knowing the outcome. 5/5
