Free Music Notes for Firefly (Original Television Soundtrack)

Free Music Review: Eclectic Musical Bliss
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, what a show, what a soundtrack. This CD gave me an even greater apreciation for what the music brought to my favorite TV show. I would personally recomend the tracks "The Funeral", "Inara's suite", "Spaceball", "Big Bar Fight", "River's Dance", "Inside the Tam House", "Boom", as well as the opening credits song. My only complaint was that I was hoping that some of the minute long tracks that i remembered being played in the show would be part of a longer version on the CD; unfortunately this is not the case. The composer for Firefly ,Edmonson, successfully blended country, blues and western, with asian influences to give a unique blend of music that perfectly complemented a unique show, and added another wonderful facet to this largely neglected tv show.

Free Music Review: LISTENING TO FIREFLY
Hit: 5 Stars

As a FIREFLY fan, I was familiar with the soundtrack that was sometimes burried beneath the dialogue of the show. This CD presents the melodies and tunes without distraction.....and what a delightful sound it is! The music has a language all it's own, and the audio cues take you right back into the FIREFLY 'verse. You will recognize the twangy chords of the "SERENITY" theme, the forceful drums that announce the"REAVERS", and the romantic yet mournful sounds that accompany the MAL/INARA relationship. Every character, every episode is here in music that is unforgetable. Hats off to GREG EDMONSON for these beautiful compositions, I only wish he had been on board for the movie soundtrack, which in my opinion is somewhat inferior.

Free Music Review: Best Damn Music in the Verse...if only it was longer!
Hit: 5 Stars

Edmonson gets 'Firefly' maybe too much, he manages to effortlessly portray all the emotions of the show, drama, heartbreak and joy. His music is beautiful, there is no better description. The chinese influenced instrumentals are poetry in sound and his composition for the 'Funeral' will make any Browncoat or classical music lover want to cry. The only, and I mean only complaint is that the pieces are far too short, which is understandable in TV music, but coupled with fact that some tracks are composed from 2 or 3 seperate episodes makes it hard listen to favourite 'bit' as it were. This disc is a definite buy for any BROWNCOAT, but also for any classical music lovers!

Free Music Review: Have no place, I can be, since I found Serenity...
Hit: 5 Stars

I am an avid Firefly/Serenity fan, so as expected, I had to try out the Firefly OST. Well, I'm definitely glad I did. I love all the songs (with the minor exception of track 3 because it's from the episode Heart of Gold) and I especially like the Ballad of Serenity track 1 and River's Dance track 23. The songs are so well selected and done that I can visualize most of the scenes the songs are from. My only complaint besides track 3 is that the Hero of Canton melody isn't here, which is a gorram shame. That song is just so shiny! Besides those two small compliants, if you love the show, you'll love this CD. I highly recommend it.

Free Music Review: Excellent!
Hit: 5 Stars

I was recently introduced to Firefly/Serenity, and immediately fell in love with it. In the ensuing Firefly binge I went on, I purchased this soundtrack, although I wasn't really expecting to listen to it much. To my surprise, I found myself listening to it several times over the next week. After listening to it, I even started to notice the quality of music while I was watching the show. The quality of this CD is surprisingly excellent, and I have to recommend it to any and all browncoats who happen across it. The strange east/west style of the show is well wrapped-up in these tracks, and a great addition to a flan's collection.
