Free Music Notes for Grey Gardens: Original Broadway Cast RecordingFree Music Review: so grey it's great Hit: 5 Stars
I wondered for the past year how one of my all time fav cult films could have turned into a musical. This soundtrack exceeded my expectations 10 fold. Not only do the two actctresses capture the accent, tone and intonation of each Edie, they also understand the pathos and joy of each. I can't wait until the musical rolls into town!
Free Music Review: Grey Gardens' dramatic score Hit: 5 Stars
This is a show that ought to be seen, not just heard, to appreciate truly the emotional passage these two women travel in their tortured lives. The score isn't a classic, but it's worth getting the CD just to hear Christine Ebersole sing "Another Winter in a Summer Time." It should become a classic, and her rendition is sublime.
Free Music Review: Delightfully entertaining Hit: 5 Stars
Not having had the opportunity or pleasure of seeing the Broadway show, I find the songs from it a delight and haven't enjoyed listening to anything else any more than I enjoy this. Also they tell more of the story of this unusual family. Everyone needs some Big Edie and Little Edie in their lives!
STAUNCH Women Rock on!
Free Music Review: Originality at its very best Hit: 5 Stars
This is a real original treat. It's incredible that they've come out with a musical based in such a (real) story. And it certainly works wonderfully! Beautiful - and sometimes very funny - songs, fascinating story and originality at its very best. "The Revolutionary Custome for Today" is hilarious. Donçt miss it.
Free Music Review: Smash Hit! Hit: 5 Stars
With the least bit of imagination, one can visualize much of this musical; but, oh,heavens! this musical's addict would love to jump on a plane, fly to NYC and see this show. This very minute! Tony award winning performances are so evident on this CD. The "Around the World" song is an event to listen to.
