Free Music Review: Not punk, but it was never supposed to be...

Let's be honest, the movie was pretty much a Disney fantasy for horny adolescents. The plot is weak, the characters generic, and every relationship in the movie is cliched and resolves in under five minutes of screen time.
Girl: What am I to you?
Guy: Er, I don't know. I've only spent ten minutes with you and five of those I was covered in outhouse effluvia
Girl: Oh, okay, let's kiss and be boyfriend-girlfriend now!
Other Guy: You're a clown, but I love you Dad!
Clown: HONK!
And that's fine. All the better to get to the point, some really fun skating sequences set to some halfway decent music. And there are some good amped-up tracks on this CD. To the guys complaining that it's not "Punk", it's not supposed to be. It's the soundtrack for a mass-marketed film aimed at suburban kids. Most of these bands likely weren't even born during the heyday of punk. They stole the speed and the attitude and put together something with a more generic appeal. To complain about that is like complaining that rock and roll isn't the blues.
If you're looking for your next hardcore punk album, you've come to the wrong place. For a decent mix tape of high-energy post-punk skating music and some light rap, you could do worse.

I love mostly all the songs off this CD, also if anyone wants 2 more songs that good to skate to and are in the movie here they are...(1) Blindside-Pitiful
Its played when the guys go to the city jam at the end and see Jamie skate. It's the music coming from the band on stage.
(2) Quarashi-Stick'em Up
Near the beginning when they go to the demo after work and it's played when they go check out the vert.

What was the name of the song they danced too at the club where the got thrown out of???? The music on this CD is so good. I love this movie, it is the best. The music has a lot to do with kids these days and pop culture. I hate rap, i think it's the worst but even the song Ay Dawg was good. All the music is so hip and upbeat. I LOVE this soundtrack all the songs are the koolest. even ay dawg is kool and i think rap sucks. The movie is the best movie of all time and ive seen it 7 times just this week. the music in Grind has a lot to do with skating cuz it gets you to want to skate and thats really skate music. if you dont have this soundtrack, or the movie, ur crazy. its great.
