Grinderman is the self-titled debut album of the band Grinderman which is a project of some of the members of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The sound is very rough, raw and promal compared to the sound of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds at the time of recording this album.Three singles were released: "Get it on", "No Pussy Blues", "(I Don't Need You To) Set Me Free" . The album was met with very positive reviews. Allmusic, Aversion and The Guardian gave it 4/5 and I agree with this. 4/5.Free Music Review: A Welcome Departure

As much as I like the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, their sound was getting to be a bit repetitous at times (to me, at least). It was about time for a new direction and Grinderman delivers. A few of the songs don't wear well (eg. no pussy blues), but several are sure to become classics in the Nick Cave musical archive. I would have given this release 5 stars, but I think that there is room for improvement. By the way...great guitar work from the man himself.Free Music Review: Exellent

Nick Cave are one of the few artist that still can suprise with an orginally production. Grindermen are a Nick Cave album still not cos of sublim production and sound that are new to him. If you like Nick Cave you like this album. The melodies and approach to the music are quit similar to The murder ballad album wich in my opinion is one of Cave:s best. Its nice to hear that someone still cares for orginallity and god lyrics.Free Music Review: Surprising

This is a great CD. It took me by surprise. Imagine Nick Cave backed by the Stooges singing songs of lust and missed sex. It works and it's epic. It's angry and visceral at times but Nick Cave knows how to pull this off without being trite. Bowie returned to the roots of rock n'roll with Tin Machine and now it's Cave.
