Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: Great CD
Hit: 5 Stars

This is the best CD EVER made! Most of these songs are really
great. But a few songs are bad. I'll review all of these songs.

1. Welcome to the Jungle: 10/10 This is the best opening song
ever. Great vocals by Axl Rose. Slash does the guitar really well.

2. Sweet Child O' Mine: 1,000,000/10 This is possibly the best
song out there. One of the best songs on this album and is
my favorite.

3. Patience: 8/10 This song has no drums. I don't know why.
But it is nice calm just in a perfect mood for me.

4. Paradise City: 10/10 Another excellent song. Steven Adler
does drums really well in this song. The beginning is excellent.

5. Knockin' On Heaven's Door: 9/10 Great song but gets boring
fast.

6. Civil War: 10/10 The opening of this song is great. The whole
song is great. This song is one of my favorite songs of all time.

7. You Could Be Mine: 10/10 Great hard rock/heavy metal song
that you could play over n over again. You get the feel of Welcome to the Jungle in this song. One of my favorites.

8. Don't Cry (Original): 4/10 No worries about this song. It's
muchly the weakest song on the entire album.

9. November Rain: 1,000,000/10 The best song ever! Slash so amazing on the riff after 7 minutes. The whole song is 9 minutes
of 100 percent excellence. This is my favorite song on this album. It rocks so hard. I like to bang my head hard to this one.
One of my favorite songs of all time ever! Great song.

10. Live and Let Die: 10/10 Yet another excellent song. Axl sings
great vocals on this one. This is a great intro, for 3 minutes
of 100 percent excellence.

11. Yesterdays: 5/10 Could Be Better

12. Ain't It Fun: 0/10 Skip it.

13. Since I Don't Have You: 7/10 This is better, but still not
as good as the rest.

14. Sympathy for the Devil: 0/10 Skip it.

Overall this is the best compilation ever behind Sultans of
Swing/The Very Best of Dire Straits. I get this in addition to
Sultans of Swing/The Very Best of Dire Straits, and Appetite
for Destruction. Great CD.

Free Music Review: don't listen to the haters
Hit: 5 Stars

GNR was the greatest band of its time, and their music will last as long as rock n roll. Most people still don't realize how good they were.

However, most of their albums had 3-7 junk songs, with 3-4 great songs. So they really needed a greatest hits album, bringing together their most popular music on a single album so that we can listen to it all back-to-back without changing CDs. I really appreciate this album for that reason, although I own most of their originals.

Some of the haters complain that a lot of the songs here are covers. Well, who cares? We can buy the Stones doing "Sympathy for the Devil" if we want to, there's no reason not to appreciate GNR's version. "Knockin'" and "Live and Let Die" were some of their greatest hits to be sure, and it would be foolish to omit them just because Bob Dylan or the McCartneys wrote them.

Let me share a great moment with you: in Ho Chi Minh city (also known as Saigon) in Vietnam, there's a popular ex-pat bar called "Guns N Roses Bar." I was in there one night, and "Civil War" came on, and many of the people in the bar (Aussies mostly) sang along with the music. It was a time to realize that this band's music (like other great bands before them) reached around the world and touched people everywhere, and it's one of the things that we have in common.

If you happen to be someone who somehow doesn't know about GNR's music, I really hope you'll get this.

One thing people overlook about the band is how socially conscious they were. They put out "Civil War" about the time of the First Gulf War, one of the only protests to that war that I know of. "Welcome to the Jungle," "Paradise City" and "Live and Let Die" all have similar social concerns. When I was a kid, I was part of the fundamentalist Christian community that objected to this music so strongly, but now I realize that actually these guys had a conscience and wanted to make us think about society and make us create a better world.

Hey, I just can't say enough good things... if you've got the money, buy this album and enjoy it.

Free Music Review: Could have been better, but it does still give you the hits.
Hit: 5 Stars

Guns N'Roses are one of my all time favorite bands, so this album is a little disappointing, don't get me wrong, nearly every song on here is great there are just other songs that are more deserving. It just so happens though that record labels never get greatest hits album right, just look at Led Zeppelin's Greatist hits. The only reason the record label released this anyways was because Axl was taking way to long for Chinese Domocracy and they wanted some money, so they put this out, and it has gathered a good deal of money.
This Album does do a good job of confirming what all real rock fans already know, that Guns N' Roses are one of the biggest and best rock bands of all time. They came at a time when rock and roll needed a savior, and they did just that, they brought some soul and attitude back in to the music. Songs like november rain, welcome to the jungle, and paradise city really highlight the bands strong points, thus making this album a good starting point for a new fan. I would reccomend buying all their albums though, because all of them are genius, except for the spaghetti incident, which was just a cover album anyways.
This album did fail to include classic cuts like Mr.Brownstone, It Ain't easy, Nighttrain, Rocket Queen, and others and for that I am angry. Also, how on earth did the sympathy for the devil cover get on here, it is simply terrible, possibly the worst Guns N' Roses song ever. So, if you are already a huge fan and have all the albums, don't get this, save your money for chinese democracy it is going to come, there have been rumors of a release before the year's end. I have heard live versions of songs from the album and they are incredible, cuts like madagascar, the blues, Rhiad and the Bedouins reaffirmed my belief in Axl, and I think if this album ever hits the light of day it will be huge.
Also check out a band called Rose hill Drive, they are the most exciting band out today and any true fan of rock and roll should enjoy them.

Free Music Review: Greatest Hits, Not Best Of
Hit: 5 Stars

Greatest Hits compilations tend to limit themselves to just that. So you end of with a group of songs that represent the list of songs that have been played to death on the radio already. In 1986, when I wanted to get into Aerosmith- what did I go out and get? Greatest Hits, of course. I think it's useful for this to be out there for the same reason. Five years from now, some kid will just be getting introduced to rock n roll and will probably get this to see if he/she wants to go any further and buy more G N R CDs. Of course I was disappointed that my favorite G N R song "Nightrain" was left off- but, then again- that would have to be left to a "Best Of" since it was never released as a "single" and, therefore, could not really be a "hit." But, then again- why would "Sympathy For The Devil" be included? Greatest Hits and Best Of compilations tend to disappoint the hardcore fans because there is ALWAYS something left off. These tend to be geared more towards the beginners. This one is for the kids who are getting tired of hip-hop being forced down their throats- or the kids who just want to hear a band that doesn't sound like it needed to develop a little more in the garage before it got signed- or even the kids who just want to know what a guitar solo is. Since G N R is my favorite band of all time- 5 stars always for the music. Of course I would've preferred to have an option to buy a version of this with a bonus disc of hard-to-find material- like the "Live from the Marquee" B-sides of "Knockin' on Heaven's Door" (a superior version, in my opinion) and "Whole Lotta Rosie" as well as the "left off of Live Like A Suicide" track "Shadow of Your Love" (not the horrible remake G N R recorded as a B-side to, I believe, "Live and Let Die"). To all of the reviewers who seem confused by this release and, therefore, have to give it a bad review- just remember- this is not for you. Give it to someone you know who is just becoming a teenager and help keep rock alive.
