Free Music Review: Greatest Hits from the Greatest Implosion in Rock History!
Hit: 5 Stars

Oh, oh, oh.... the might have beens... John Bonham not dying, Hendrix not choking, David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen not hating each others' guts.... and one of the Greatest Rock Bands of All Time not going up in unfathomable self-induced flames...

I didn't like GnR that much when they were together. Sure, I liked Paradise City when I heard it on the radio, I liked the November Rain video, and I couldn't get that Sweet Child O Mine hook out of my mind... but it was after I bought this CD and listened to it about 50 times that I came to realize what a truly MONSTER band this was.

What a waste. What a waste.

For those who know GnR, my reviewing each song is pointless. You know them all. For those who don't know GnR very well, I'll just say this is a great place to start.

The one thing I WILL say after listening to this CD is that Sweet Child O Mine has to be one of the most perfectly crafted rocks songs ever made. Slash's tone is about as sweet as you will ever find anywhere. That hook is the stuff of legend. Axl's voice is spectacular, one of the greatest rock vocalists of all time. Steven Adler still had all his faculties, and is relentless. And the WAY the song is put together--- HOW and WHERE they use the main hook, the several secondary hooks, and the spectacular guitar and voice solos.... I'm in awe.

So, finally, to conclude:

What an absolute freakin' waste.

Free Music Review: Guns n Roses Greatest Hits!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Finally, after years of waiting, a Guns N Roses "Greatest Hits" compilation has been released. The big question being asked is "Was it worth the wait?". Well, the answer is "Yes" and "No" at the same time.
On the positive side, "Greatest Hits" includes nearly all of GnR's best known classics from the party-rock anthems "Welcome To The Jungle", "Sweet Child O' Mine", "You Could Be Mine" and "Paradise City" to the epic masterworks "November Rain" and "Civil War" to the simple balladry of "Patience", "Don't Cry" and "Yesterdays". The band's cover of The Rolling Stones "Sympathy For The Devil" (originally released on the "Interview With the Vampire" soundtrack) makes its debut on a GnR album here as well.
The downside to this compilation is that there are some glaring omissions which lead to one wishing that this were a double-disc set. GnR classics such as "Mr. Brownstone", "My Michelle" and especially the epic "Estranged" are missing from this CD entirely. Understandably, GnR did not have enough hits to fill an entire double-CD but it would have been nice to have had the above tracks included along with important album tracks.
All gripes aside, "Greatest Hits" offers a fairly good sampling of the music Guns N Roses is best known for. There is plenty of great classic tracks on this disc to bring back fond memories of what this band once was.
Not bad at all.

Free Music Review: Guns N' Roses are one of the best metal bands of all-time
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a must every Guns N' Roses fan. All of Guns N' Roses hits are here including the masterpiece- Welcome to the Jungle, the ballads- Don't Cry and November Rain. Their #1 single, Sweet Child O'Mine is here. You Could Be Mine is a blistering piece of metal and showcases Guns N' Roses at their best. Patience shows the lighter side of Guns N' Roses. All the hits are here with Don't Cry, Sweet Child O'Mine, Patience, Yesterdays, Paradise City, Yesterdays, Knockin' on Heaven's Door, Civil War and Since I don't have you.

Guns N' Roses topped Billboard 200 albums with Appetite for Destruction and Use Your Illusion II. I have every album released by Guns N' Roses.

Say what you will about Axl Rose- but his band, Guns N' Roses is one of the best metal acts in history. With more than 100 million records sold, who can argue with the success of this band.

Velvet Revolver can dream about having the same success as G N' R- but the truth of the matter is that Velvet Revolver will never ever have the same success as Guns N' Roses.

This is one of the best greatest hits collection released- not to mention that it was #1 on the Canadian album chart.

With #1 videos for November Rain, Don't Cry and You Could Be Mine- the success of the band speaks for itself.

Free Music Review: Come on guys! This is Guns N' Roses!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't know what all the negativity is about. Yeah, Axl, Slash and Duff didn't want it out. Yeah, "Entangled" is missing. Yeah, there's nothing new here. So what?? Think about what is. All the big hits off APPETITE FOR DESTRUCTION, G N'R LIES, USE YOUR ILLUSION I & II and THE SPAGHETTI INCIDENT? Besides, anyone who is interested in this CD will already have the other albums (let's be honest), so if "Entangled" isn't here, guess what? You already have it. With the CD clocking in at 79 min, there was very little else Geffen could do. The basic facts are that this album isn't "THE BEST OF...", but the GREATEST HITS and the two don't necessarily mean the same thing. This was compiled with the Brits in mind too - remember that. Every song here was a British Top 10 hit, yes, even "Ain't It Fun" and "Sympathy For The Devil". This is a band that hasn't delivered an album in OVER TEN YEARS. Naturally Geffen are obliged to put together a CD of songs that will SELL - and those are the hits. For what it's worth, the sound is great and getting all these songs in one place is really convenient. Bottom line: it's Guns N' F' Roses. There's no way every song we like could be on here, otherwise it'd be a 3 CD set. Just chill out, put it on and let GNR take you down to "Paradise City" again.
