Free Music Notes for Greatest Hits

Free Music Review: On the money as far as a Hits collection
Hit: 5 Stars

Overall this does a pretty solid job in covering all of the hits of the band. The cd clocks in at 79:42 so there really isn't any room for additional songs but I do wish "Nightrain" (a Top 20 hit in the UK and a popular song on rock radio) from "Appetite For Destruction" had been included somehow. There are probably other songs from "Appetite" that would have been worthy additons as well but I would rather see a remastered version of that cd released.

I realize there are plenty of fans who are disappointed in this compilation, either because there were too many covers or not enough material from "Appetite", and I do somewhat agree but strictly speaking this compilation does its job in delivering all the hits. Hopefully there will either be a more comprehensive 2 disk "Best Of" or a box set released in the future that will include songs fans felt are missing here.

Free Music Review: "Greatest Hits", not "Best of" Guns 'N Roses
Hit: 5 Stars

This album is exactly what its title indicates, a collection of the group's greatest hits, and not necessarily of their best work. Being more of a casual GnR fan, I have been waiting for something like this to be released for nearly six years. This has all of the songs that were popular for the band during the late 80s and early 90s. And yes, of course a few cover songs are included along with a number of their own original songs. But I remember both "Knockin' On Heaven's Door" and "Live and Let Die" being very popular when they were released on the "Use Your Illusion" albums. At the time I did not realize that they were cover songs, but that knowledge in years since has not reduced GnR's interpretation of these great songs. All in all, I found this album to be exactly what I had been waiting for, but the die-hard GnR fan looking for a "Best of"-album will likely be disappointed.

Free Music Review: Greatest Hits (though there are many other good ones)
Hit: 5 Stars

This CD is most definatly a must have for the Guns and Roses fan. It has many of their greatest hits, such as the infamous Sweet Child O' Mine, Paradise City and Welcome To The Jungle.
There are many hits that could of been on this album that weren't put on, such as Estranged and I Used To Love Her (which is one of my personal favorites.)
However, I don't agree with everyone that gave this album 2 stars. For one, there are MANY other good songs on this CD that make up for the ones not on it, like Civil War, You Could Be Mine, Knockin' On Heaven's Door and Don't Cry.
There are a lot of cover songs on this CD... maybe a little too much. I do think they should of had more regular songs that GNR made themselves.
Never the less, this doesn't mean that the CD is not good. I would definatly recommend this CD to GNR fans.

Free Music Review: Rocks biggest post Zeppelin Hard Rock Act.
Hit: 5 Stars

Not many bands can say they had this many Top 40 singles:

Gun n' Roses Billboard

Sweet Child O' Mine - 1988 1
November Rain - 1992 3
Patience - 1989 4
Paradise City - 1989 5
Welcome to the Jungle - 1988 7
Don't Cry - 1991 10
You Could Be Mine - 1991 29
Live and Let Die - 1991 33

Plus the fact that Knockn on Heavens Door and Civil War are also great songs that they never allowed to compete for Top 40. They surely would of made it if they were released too.

The only bad about this is it is missing Brownstone, Nighttrain, Rocket Queen, and Estranged. But we now know it was not Axl or the bands fault. Record company's are terrible!

Awesome to see the Gunners already topping the charts with this (released March 15th) in Europe.

Free Music Review: My review for .... Greatest Hits (Guns N Roses)
Hit: 5 Stars

I am a major Guns N Roses fan. This band might be condsidered old but I mean, the songs are masterpieces. I'll admit though, some decisions the band has made whether it be all of them or seperate, have really let some fans down. This Greatest Hits is truely umcomplete. Its missing a lot of good songs. Its missing Rocket Queen, So Fine, Move To The City, and some other good songs. Yeh they really didn't shape there career, but they still should of been on here. But the songs they did put on here are good, except the last track. That song is so dumb. I dont wanna look back at the track listing and tell you the name because it is so bad. If you want the most famous best hits, then get this. I was sorta dissapointed it missed some songs, but then again, its good to have this to stop going from album to album to listen to the good songs.
