I had read a completely unfair review.
Mr. Clive is too pretentious on his review for this CD. Obviously people who like Andrea Bocelli(!) - and I bet he loves Celine Dion also (good grief!!! Pure sound garbage!!!) doesn't like Music. Yes! Music! M U S I C!
Musical background (?!) sure he don't have none. He's on the bottom line of musical taste. The sound that Gustavo Santaolalla create for Brokeback Mountain (or to '21 Grams', 'The Motorcycle Diaries' and 'North Country' and his remarkable CD 'Ronroco' on the exquisite label Nonesuch - wich means very GOOD MUSIC) is absolutely fantastic. Very well written and fits completely the mood of the films(s).
Free Music Review: Great: Abstract Enough to Become a Classic

What I like most about this CD is that, although it certainly conjures up images of the movie when I listen to it, the music on the whole is abstract enough that I can enjoy many listens without feeling like I am following the movie each time. The tunes and singing are quite beautiful and the CD has a powerful emotional feel throughout it.
What is also interesting is that, if you listen to the words, put them in the context of the movie, and then go see the movie, especially for a second time, there are a lot of interesting symbols to connect together. I wouldn't say that this is a fun CD as such. It's more like a nice little transfiguration. :-)
Free Music Review: A Love That Will Never Grow Old

The sound track is an awesome collection if you really enjoyed the movie and loved the story. I used not to like some of the faster-paced songs in the album, like Devil's right hand, but after listening to it time and time again, I like anyone in it right now. It's a great mixture of the original blue gitar scores from Gustavo Santaolalla and those classic country music. The collection corresponds to the plot development of the movie so well that by listening to it I just revisit the story in my mind again. Really loved it.
BTW, I got the CD the second day from Amazon during my prime membership trial. Exceptional experience.

The soundtrack to Brokeback Mountain is incredibly moving....Gustavo Santaolalla rightly deserves recognition for his original score, which seems to contain so many emotions with such simple musical lines... moving, sad, uplifting....The opening sequence that draws the viewer into the two main characters, to the closing sequence as Ennis buttons Jack's shirt, is simply amazing.
The other artists on this CD round out the movie score wonderfully, with my two favorites of Willie Nelson and Steve Earle.
It's a wonderful addition to anybody's CD collection. I highly recommend it. Thanks for listening.

ok you are straight that is fine this cd is fine and made for lovers!!! Need I say more that is your problem why dont you ordeEr it ?! Tell me are you afraid of your feelings. The music is written for lovers. Straight or gay. Don't get by now awake up and smell the coffee. I personal favorties are I DONT'T WANT TO SAY GOODBYE AND I WILL LET YOU GO but you will find your own favorites. Please help this album get to the top it is academty award winner!!! It needs more buyers it would be a great wedding gift, tell me you are not least bit interested. THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM AND YOU WILL NEVER HEAR ANYTHING LIKE FOR MANY YEAR!!!
