Free Music Notes for Brokeback Mountain [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]Free Music Review: "It's just tearjerking listening to the original score and songs!" Hit: 5 Stars
Brokeback Mountain is certainly on my top 10 movies of the year, and it's soundtrack is a must-have for me. I was so taken by the original scores by Gustavo Santaolalla. I mean it's his music that made the love scenes between Jack and Ennis more emoitionally powerful. This soundtrack also feature ten various Country Western singers including my favorite Steve Earle whom I loved so much since I heard him sang Pilgrim in You Can Count On Me, but his song The Devil's Right Hand here is not as catchy or touching as Willie Nelson's He Was A Friend of Mine. I also enjoyed listening to Mary McBride's No One's Gonna Love You Like Me. So if you loved the film, and can't wait to get a copy of the DVD later this year, then this soundtrack will satisfy you in terms of getting the flashbacks of the film going.
Free Music Review: Accessible and Haunting... Hit: 5 Stars
Every great soundtrack should be able to showcase great songs, while still reminding you of the spirit of the film. Brokeback Mountain conquers on both fronts. It has great songs by Linda Rondstant, Willy Nelson and the heartbreakingly beautiful Emmylou Harris, who I must say, is the perfect addition to the music of this film.
The theme, with its expansive, slow-plucked guitars, is both breathtaking and heartbreaking, quite like the film itself.
It will be a long time before the impression of Brokeback Mountain fades from memory, this soundtrack is a necessary addition to your collection if you were moved by the film. It is an aural embodiement of the undying nature of love.
Haunting is probably the best word to describe it.
Free Music Review: it may be audio but it gives a fantastic visual as well... Hit: 5 Stars
wow...this soundtrack is super....the instrumental showings are very warm and inviting....emmylou harris song-"a love that will never grow old" is her best delivery ever...hopefully she will be recognized come grammy time...rufus wainwright has an incredible voice that is haunting as well-as he conveys on-"the maker makes"...i could go thru and mention them all but sometimes less is more....i can hear the soundtrack and see the visuals in my mind, now that is what a soundtrack should do!! This soundtrack comes from a beautiful film that weighs heavily on beauty....beauty between loves lost and beauty of what is around us as we continue on a journey to find ourselves and how others find us....hopefully this film will gather much attention come oscar time...
Free Music Review: A perfect match for the movie Hit: 5 Stars
I cannot really say much more than what others have already said about this soundtrack, except that it is absolutely amazing. Every single track brings you back to the movie. After I saw Brokeback Mountain, I seriously could not stop thinking about it for days, and then when I bought the soundtrack, it made me fall in love with the movie even more (if that is even possible.) I even cried when I listened to some of the tracks, like Riding Horses and The Wings, because the tragedy of the story just comes rushing back into your mind the minute you play the cd. I am not even a country fan, and it is probably one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard. I highly recommend this soundtrack for both non-country lovers and country listeners alike.
Free Music Review: Back to Broken Hit: 5 Stars
This is a soundtrack to bring back all of the emotion from the movie. Gustavo Santaolalla created a simple melody that captures the emotions of the love, the hope, and the despair, as well as the sense of the landscape. All of the songs are from the movie - I listened for them as I saw the movie a second time. This time around has put another layer of emotion on the songs: 'King of the Road' reminding me of Jack's 14 hour drives to see Ennis, singing the song on the way; 'It's So Easy' becomes bittersweet, as the hopeful nature of the song rings false (although if I were to eliminate a song from this collection, this would be it). You can't beat the performances of Willie Nelson and Emmylou Harris. Like the movie, it's beautiful misery.
