I am a huge broadway fan and this is my favorite soundtrack of any I own.
I have been lucky enough to see the show twice now and am hoping to see it next week so I can see it one last time before it closes.
Patti was amazing and I couldn't wait for this CD to come out. It is the firest time I have been to a show and seen a performer get a standing ovation before curtain call. She also got one after "Everything is coming up roses" the first time I saw it and "Rose's Turn" both times I saw it. It was no contest for the Tony for best actress this year.
THis is a must have for any broadway fan. And Gypsy is worth flying to NYC to see alone.

Patti Lupone's phenomenal performance as Mamma Rose is captured on this extensive recording, including songs that were cut from the original production.
If you have other recordings of Gypsy, you will still want this in your collection. Patti Lupone's Gypsy is the finest of the many recordings of Gypsy released over the last 30 years. Laura Benanti as Gypsy and Boyd Gaines as Herbie also lift this recording to must have status.

This incredible show has finally been put on to disk! I can't believe the quality of the CD. The songs sound almost live. Patti LuPone isn't known for being a recorder, but this CD captures her perfectly. It's like listening to a new show everytime I turn it on.
The bonus songs are outtakes and sound just amazing. It's hard to believe that they were taken out at all.
Absolutely a must have for any fan of the show or of any of these fabulous stars.

I have always loved this show. And I still consider Ethel Merman's performance of Madame Rose to be the greatest. But Patti LuPone has turned in a performance worthy of the Great Merm. I just listened to the CD of the 2008 Broadway revival. Patti LuPone is magnificent! Her singing is powerful. And her great acting ability comes through in every song that she performs. She well deserved the Tony for best performance in a musical role.Free Music Review: TRACK LISTING in Amazon description is INCORRECT.

The track listing that Amazon has in their description is incorrect. The titles "Act II Curtain" and "Exit Music" are not included on the disc they are sending out. Just so everyone is aware. Those tracks are exclusive to a competitor's special edition of this album. I ordered from Amazon on the strength of their description which is incorrect.
The recording is brilliant.
