This is definately an album worth getting. If you're interested in poetry and bringing it to life, get into Finnish band HIM. Singer Ville Valo battled a hard road to bring his thoughts to fruition. Many people believe HIM is all about devil worship and death, but these rumours need to be deteriorated. HIM is about love and the torture of love as well as its beauty. I know Ville's lyrics have touched people young and old, married and single, from every nation. After all, love makes the world go round!
Not all of HIMs music might appeal to you, but at least try it and see, you might be pleasantly surprised. Listen to Ville's poetry and escape into his world for a while. It's beautiful, full of mystery and hope.

I can't stand how such a band can get so much play and acclaim for so little. This has been done before, except it was much better back then. Goth music like this is wasting up space and is just another problem that the rest of us have to deal with, even though it sucks so much. I really don't get what H.I.M. are all about. If Bam had Slayer and H.I.M. in his backyard playing, Ville Valo would hide in Finland because he's too scared to even look at Tom Araya, let alone play against his music.
Have any of you Goths (or non-goths if you aren't a fat depressed teen) ever heard of At The Gates? Any? Any at all? No one? And you say you like Metal...At The Gates's last album, -Slaughter Of The Soul-, would eat this up, digest it out, and send it to the pits south of Heaven. "Into The Dead Sky", one of two instrumentals on -SOTS- clocking in around 2 minutes, has more emotion, dignity, and skill then H.I.M.'s lifetime achievements. This music is weak, generic, and boring as can be.
Listen to some real Metal like Slayer, Megadeth, In Flames, and At The Gates (R.I.P.) so that you'll forget whoever H.I.M. was.

i think this is the best album every made in the whole wide sick, cruel, cold, world. An' if yer 1 a dos' bad guys who thinks this band sucks, than BOO-FRICKEDY-WHO!!! get a life you meanie-poopoo! an don't bother us FINNISH FANS i am sorry i shouldn't of got that mean, forgive me.
YESTERDAY, i dropped a D so big it had to break in half to go down the toilet pipe... i think i backed up the system...

usually i dont like bands like HIM my sister introduced them to me and i ABSOLUTELY love them they are on of my favorite bands after i listened to this album i had a friend burn a copy of dark light for me which i think is some of their best work i just got love metal and deep shadows and brillant highlights and even though those albums are a bit softer they certinaly have that HIM air about them good stuff i would recommed this album to anyone looking for something different

In my oppinion, HIM is the greatest band of all time, tes, I feel they have even passed up greats such as AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N Roses, Black Sabbath, etc. This album isn't quite a healthy relationship album. In fact it kind of mixes goth in with a little emo, and some hard core. Right Here in My Arms is, to me, the standout on this album. Catchy tune, but still, it muct compete with other greats such as Join Me(in death), Razorblade Kiss, Your sweet Six Six Six. This was the bands forst REAL breakout. So far, I love pretty much every HIM album.
