I workout to El Cantante - The Original. It's like nonstop Great music to exercise to. Hector Laveo is still the best. I saw Marc Anthony's movie, El Cantante but, I brought Hectors Original CD. It's my favorite CD. I blast the CD in my Escalade, and everybody looking at me and singing along with me. I'm a black guy from the Bronx, living in Manhattan. Como bien dice en el texto del interior de la portada: la postura de H?ctor, su actitud, su est?tica, era de una estrella de rock. A diferencia de quien lo personific? en la pel?cula, por ejemplo, el se?or Marc Anthony, quien en mi pa?s ser?a catalogado dentro del estilo que se conoce como "la gilada latina" (something like "the foolish latin-thing"). H?ctor era un sonero de alma, natural, espont?neo. Y si lo comparo con su remplazante en la banda de Col?n, el se?or Rub?n Blades (a quien respeto, por cierto), podr?a decir lo siguiente: tomemos como ejemplo la "?pera" MAESTRA VIDA (a great masterpiece!)de Blades y Col?n. Dura aproxim?damente 80 minutos. H?ctor hubiese contado lo mismo en 15 minutos (3 temas de 5 minutos c/u). Su poder de s?ntesis era impresionante. Analizando "El Cantante" (The Originals), destaco por supuesto la extensa versi?n completa del tema que da t?tulo al ?lbum, "Aguanile", que est? basado en un tema folkl?rico cubano, "Todo tiene su final" y "El d?a de mi suerte", en cierto modo autobiogr?ficos, y "?Qu? l?o!", una tremenda guajira, con todo el feeling del blues en su versi?n latina. Me hubiera gustado que estuviera "Juanito Alima?a", pero claro, no fue incluida en la peli. ??Pi?rdanselo!!Free Music Review: GREAT CD

I bought this album after listening to "El Cantante" movie soundtrack. Some of the other reviews are correct. The new movie does remove a lot of elements essential for a good classic salsa album. I am not saying that Marc Anthonys rendition of Hector Lavoe is not good; it's actually great. But there's nothing like home-made. Hector Lavoe was so original, so unique, so ahead of his time. Sometimes, I will listen to a song that I always love listening to and realize that it's actually Lavoe who sang it. This gives me more appreciation for the man.Free Music Review: Excellent!

Great CD! Never skip a song! The best of the best! All these songs will be hits even if they came out for the very first time in 2008!
