Free Music Notes for Hairspray (Soundtrack to the Motion Picture)Free Music Review: Wonderfully fun Hit: 5 Stars
After seeing the movie my sister and I ran out to buy the soundtrack. It's excellent. the vocal talent they've managed to put together is amazing. Nikki Blonsky is fantastic and her enthusiasm can't be contained. Zac Efron finally gets to redeem himself after not having his vocals used in High School Musical. "Ladies' Choice" is really fun and upbeat. I can't say enough good things about Queen Latifah.
In my opinion Elijah Kelly is the best though. What a great find. "Run and Tell That" showcases his enormous talent.
The cd is great for singing along to and for making you feel good.
Free Music Review: Fantastic Soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
I LOVE HAIRSPRAY!! You cannot compare the movie and the Broadway show because they are both fantabulous in their own way. The cast in both deliver great singing and acting capabilities. This soundtrack is by far the only soundtrack from a movie or show that I enjoy every single song on it. If I absolutely had to choose 2 great songs off this soundtrack, it would have to be "Without Love" and "You Can't Stop The Beat". My son and I watch the movie every chance we get and I'm sooo looking forward to seeing the Broadway show AGAIN!
Free Music Review: I was ready to hate it Hit: 5 Stars
I loved the original movie Hairspray and loved its soundtrack--Two Thumbs up for the wonderful Rachel Sweet's title track. So, I was very iffy about the musical and then the movie version of the musical. Fortunately, I gave it a chance and absolutely love the musical movie version. Nikki Blonsky is one of the best new talents of the last ten years. And while I enjoy John Travolta's contributions to the soundtrack, he almost ruined the movie for me. Who had the bright idea to cast him as heir to Divine and Harvey Fierstein?? ICK
Free Music Review: You Can't Stop (Listening to) This Recording! Hit: 5 Stars
The new "Hairspray" movie soundtrack is phenomonal and makes me want to twist and shout!
The movie casts hold thier own to any stage performance of this timeless musical. Performers that really stand out are Nikki Blonsky as Tracie, Elijah Kelley as Seaweed, Queen Latifa as Maybelle and James Marsden as Corny Collins (who in my opinion is the best I've ever seen or heard in this role).
The whole cast is great and the orchestrations are amazing and superior to that of other cast recordings, in my opinion.
Free Music Review: You Won't Get It Out of Your Head... Hit: 5 Stars
The move was fantastic, and the soundtrack mirrors this... The vast majority of the songs are upbeat and unbelievably catchy. I've seen many musicals in my day, and I must say that this is the first one that actually made me feel better about myself after taking a look and listen. From the immediate attention grabbing "Good Morning Baltimore" to the undeniably infectious "You Can't Stop the Beat," the soundtrack keeps the energy high and the toes a tappin'. See the movie, and then... well, you'll buy the soundtrack =)
