Being a Christmas buff, I am very attached to my holiday music, so I was thrilled to find this CD through Daryl Hall's website LIVE FROM DARYL'S HOUSE. It is a wonderful, joyous, from-the-heart celebration of some Christmas classics, some original songs from Hall and Oates, and a remake of a song from the Band that really rocks acoustically. There's a string section to give the music that classic feel, as well as a wall of acoustic and wailing electric guitar. Can you tell that I love this CD? It's now February but I still sneak a listen occasionally to reconnect with the band. I have purchased the CD for some of my friends and will make a gift of it to a few others come next December. Ist of all this is both Hall & Oates unlike you've probably ever heard them,and secondly you'll be thinking "What took them so long to realize they needed to do this." What comes off here is simply one of the most heartfelt Christmas performances barr none to be recorded. For one, pop artists are realizing their audiences are wanting to hear more than "Santa Clause is coming to town" kind of songs. Bottom line is your going to love this! I believe their version of "O HOLY NIGHT" is truely the finest version ever recorded, and I have favorite versions by others namely Nat King Cole. This compilation of Christmas songs has some of the most wonderful holiday songs ever written. They range from Christmas classics as "Jingle Bell Rock" and "The Christmas Song" (the latter sung most soulfully by Mr. John Oates) to cover songs performed in the "rock & soul" manner that Hall and Oates became famous for. ("Christmas Must Be Tonight", "Children Go Where I Send Thee") My personal favorites are "The First Noel" and "O Holy Night"; they're sung with such soul and depth that I come close to crying whenever I hear them. This is not another promo of old stars singing old songs in an uninspired way just to get a buck at Christmas. This is the best Christmas CD I've purchased in years. It is fresh and inspired but is full of very beautiful Christmas arrangements as only Hall and Oats can accomplish. Daryl Hall & John Oats still have it and are only getting better! They have applied their unique blending of voices to their unique renditions to make you remember why you were originally a H & O fan. They make the songs seem new. My favorites are "Children Go Where I send Thee" and "Everyday Will Be Like A Holiday" but their all good.Free Music Review: The Perfect Christmas Gift.....

Wow, this cd is truly amazing!!! I mean, I don't think I've heard anything more wonderful from this duo. This cd is wonderful gift from the duo to share with their fans. They have a wonderful take some of the traditional Christmas songs and they've managed to throw in two new songs as well. Which are just fantastic!!! This makes a wonderful Christmas gift!!! It's just great.
