Free Music Notes for Damn Right, Rebel Proud

Free Music Review: Good music, horrendous lyrics
Hit: 2 Stars

I have loved Hank III's country music for several years now so was excited when I found out he had a new album. I ordered the "clean" version as I have children and I try not to pollute my own mind with filthy language. I really liked the music once again on this album, however the lyrics were just awful. Hank III oughta just shut up and play - he literally RUINS good music with tasteless, depressing lyrics. He sounds incredibly bitter towards "the establishment" (victim mentality) and it has gotten WAY old with this album where he takes it to another level. Even with the "beeped out" curse words (which is annoying with all the beeps), the lyrics themselves are not "clean", with Hank continuously talking about committing suicide, doing drugs, hating people, and other uplifting themes. No matter how much you like Hank III, this is a definite "pass" in my opinion. Perhaps when Hank matures some day he can sit down and right some decent lyrics to go with his great music.

Free Music Review: JUVENILE EFFORT
Hit: 2 Stars

I liked Hank's first 3 discs. All are benchmarks for authentic raunchy Country music. This one however stinks with immature lyrics that come right out of the high-school mentality or, if you noticed, the new Texas scene. A lot of artists are trying too hard to be something they're not or prove a point until they've basically swatted a fly with sledgehammer. As someone wisely put it, "We get it. He's bad to the bone and he hangs out with young hobos". So what? Just because you smoke dope and drink a lot doesn't make you anything special or bad. You can really tire of this quickly when it seems to be 90% of what the guy sings about. This one was a major disappointment after hearing the promising start in his career.

Free Music Review: Who is this guy trying to convince?
Hit: 2 Stars

Us or himself. I can't stand any more of this "I like to have a damn good time, and I drink, and I cuss, blah, blah, blah", song after song. The lyrics are hideous. He sounds like an insecure high school kid trying to find an image. Seriously, I'm embarrassed listening to this album. Straight to hell wasn't much better. Lovesick and Rising Outlaw were good. And this devil stuff has got to go. It's stooopid. I'm officially over this guy.

Free Music Review: Letdown... buy Straight To Hell instead.
Hit: 2 Stars

Big fan of all the Hanks... but Shelton lost me on this one. Sounds tired, uninspired and re-hashed from previous songs. B-Side of S2H is perfect description.

Anyone who would dedicate a song to GG Allin doesn't deserve your money or mine. GG Allin thought that molesting kids was a good idea.
