This collection is made for the dedicated Hank Williams fan. If you would like to have available to you pieces of Hank's life that you may not realize ever existed, then this compilation will keep you involved for many hours. About 50% of this collection would generally be considered to be of "unpublishable" quality, due to the nature of the recordings from which they were made. These low-quality recordings are nevertheless valuable for their biographical significance, and are separated from the standard quality Hank Williams music that we are used to hearing.
I am especially pleased to find such rarely published gems as "I Could Never Be Ashamed Of You", and "Dear John", or "Never Again". Of course all of the more famous tunes are here as well. It is, after all, "Complete".

Ive been putting this box set off for a good 2-3 years. I finally purchased it used at an amazing price and its an amazing set. I dont know what people are talking about when they complain about the book falling apart and ruining the cds; Its actully a great idea. Maybe if your in a hurry and just open the book fast and shove the cd in that way, that'd ruin it. This guy wrote some of the greatest songs ever, and this collection is like a bible. As too all you anal collectors who complain about songs that arent in this collection, you have to remember the quailty of some songs have no stood the test of time, so they had to leave them out. Other then that, im very happy with the product and anyone who rated it below 4 dont know music.Free Music Review: 2 Grammy Awards Well Deserved

This Box Set desereved to win 2 Grammy awards. And this is not just record company hype. I own several Box Sets including: Phil Spector, Led Zeppelin, Frank Sinatra, and Carly Simon. Yet the "Complete Hank Williams" is by far superior in terms of production quality. The historical richness alone of this Box Set is worth the money! I've read several reviews that are critical of the "complete" claim, I think they have a tunnel vision in respects to ignoring the historical perspective given with this Box Set. To the critics, I say find me something better than this. Answer, they can't, and they know it. Five Stars from this guy!Free Music Review: Important collection of an Important American artist

Bringing together all the studio recordings of Hank Williams is a valuable enough contribution, but this set also includes radio shots, live cuts, and demo recordings. Two excellent books shed light on Williams' important career. The other reviews stress this and I agree wholeheartedly with all the positive comments. The collection is not "complete" because it does not include the important Mother's Best transcriptions which will hopefully appear in the near future.
This is a model box set, tastefully down and revealing of the artist in several ways. If only more major labels treated their important artists in this way.

I always knew Hank Williams was a great performer, but I did not know how great until I heard some of his performances without his band. "Cool Water", "Calling You" and others are more impressive than his performances on his "hits". I never fully understood how he became so popular, until I heard "I'm Not Coming Home Anymore". The selection here is noisy and hard to hear clearly, but the pain and sorrow come through in this crude recording and make this a hauntingly beautiful rendition. I would, however, like to edit out "Miss Audrey's voice" on the duets she does with him.
