Free Music Notes for The Unreleased Recordings

Free Music Review: "TEN" star review if I could. Corpus Christi, TX
Hit: 5 Stars

Mr. ole' JC "oldsewwandersew", You don't know what you have in your possession. I was thrilled when I heard these unreleased recordings, became available. To listen to this man sing from his heart, through all the pain and anguish, and still give us all he had, is short of WONDERFUL! I play mine in my pickup truck while driving through the country on farm to market roads because i feel like it's back in Hank's time. The sound of these recordings take you back in time. They make you feel like you're there with him. These are beautiful songs, sung by the Greatest C&W artist the world has ever known. Thank you Amazon.com for an awesome package. Excellent price, and you did an excellent job with S&H. Thank You! And thank you Jett and Time Life Entertainment for giving us HANK! There are my ten stars!

Free Music Review: Life Changing Hillbilly Music...
Hit: 5 Stars

This box is some of the best music I've ever heard in my life. Everybody thought the soundtrack of "Oh Brother" a few years back was the greatest thing since sliced bread. Well, I loved that disc as well, but I'd put these discs along the rating of multiplying "Oh Brother" by 10. I've heard Hank many time on disc, but never this honest. When the music is sad, it's heartbreaking, and when it's joyous, its makes me smile. Anyone that professes to be a country music lover needs to own this and then compare everything else they ever hear to this. I'm a little older these days, and If someone would have handed me this when I was 20, I dont think I would have understood it, but now, its right up there with my Beatle discs.(although completely different music) Long Live Hank!

Free Music Review: You've gotta have this...
Hit: 5 Stars

This is an amazing find. These recordings were headed for the dumpster when someone had the wisdom to pull them aside. The recordings are priceless. The recording quality is very good with a natural sound that is lacking on some of the commercial recordings that I have heard. Hearing Hank speak is a real bonus. I love all the cheering at the end of the songs, these guys were having a lot of fun. Hearing Hank sing so many unknown (to me at least) songs gives us an idea what kind of material these guys played on a daily basis. Lot's of gospel songs and some popular tunes too. Hank's version of On Top of Old Smokey is so blue and soulful it doesn't even sound like the same song. This is the best of Hank Williams...you gotta have this.

Free Music Review: Time Travel to 1951
Hit: 5 Stars

This set is an astonishingly great addition to Hank Williams' recorded legacy. The 54 songs are all previously unreleased (28 of which are the only existing versions recorded by Hank Williams). These are peak-period 'Live In The Studio' recordings that equal or surpass the quality of Williams' studio masters in performance and sound quality (with a few exceptions). Some songs are preceded or followed by studio chatter, conversation, introductions or promotion of the sponsor's product (Mother's Best Flour)--and the effect is like having Hank Williams and his band in the room with you, performing his hits, personal favorite songs and brand new compositions, just for you circa 1951, if you could time travel. And now you can.

Free Music Review: What a gift!
Hit: 5 Stars

I heard about this CD when Scott Simon interviewed Hank's daughter Jett Williams on his show on NPR. I am a Hank fan, so I couldn't wait to get it. Even so, I was initially a little disappointed by all of the hymns; but because it was HANK singing, I listened anyway. I am glad I did. Hank is a legend and if you want to know why, buy this CD and give it a good listen. Hank's singing and the harmony by The Drifting Cowboys just cannot be beat. The sound quality is very good. There are familiar songs by Hank here, but there are many I have not heard him do before--"Cool Water" and "I'll Have a New Life" are stand-outs for me. If there is more unreleased Hank music out there, Jett please get it to us!
