Free Music Review: Not Just For Kids Hit: 4 Stars
This is really a terrific CD! I enjoy all of the Hannah Montana songs. I realize that I am probably not part of the target audience for the CD or the TV show,(I am a 28 year old male and a country music fan). But anyway, I am a fan of the Hannah Montana TV show and of the songs from the show.
The first song on the CD, "The Best of Both Worlds," is one of the best songs and is the theme song from the show. However, I am not sure if Miley is the one singing the song on TV or not. The two versions sound different, and the TV version sounds like someone else singing the lead. Anyway, the song is great and is really catchy.
All of the Hanah Montana songs are full tilt brezey pop with catchy melodies and lyrics that hook you. I think the reason I like the songs so well is because I have heard them, or at least parts of them, several times on the TV show. I was already hooked on most of them before I even bought the CD. I do not care so much for tracks 9-12. I do not know who these people are. They are not part of the TV show. I would have liked more Hanna Montana songs. The last song on the CD, " I learned From You," with Miley and her famous dad Billy Ray Cyrus,is a decent song where there is probably a lot of truth to the lyrics. It is good to see Billy Ray on at least one song.
Miley has a fantastic voice. She has great range, and when she hits the high notes her voice is still very forceful and does not fade away or become raspy. It is amazing that someone so young like Miley can be so talented with acting and singing. I guess it is just in her genes.
I know there is not really any deep, meaningful, or emontional songs, like one reviwer has already mentioned, but I do not think that was the intent of the makers of this CD or the creators of the TV show. This is just a fun, bubbly CD to listen to. It puts you in a good mood. I have heard that Miley plans to release a CD of her own music sometime next year. I am sure that her own music will be great as well, but I hope there will be more Hannah Montana albums with new songs from and inspired by the TV show.
Pick this one up for your teenage daughter, niece, granddaughter or, like me, for yourself!
Free Music Review: BUY THIS CD! Hit: 4 Stars
If you haven't already listened to Hannah Montana's music, I suggest that you do right now. Who would believe that this lively and extremely talented singer is only thirteen years old? As said before, right now! And here's why:
Hannah Montana (the performing name of Miley Cyrus, daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, famous for his "Achey Breaky Heart") is the most talented thirteen year old you will ever hear. Just listen to the samples on this website, and you will be shocked to hear that such a strong and mature voice belongs to a thirteen year old. And, the song style is exceptionally catchy - a blend of rock, pop, and country, you can't resist! Plus, the feel-good lyrics will have you wanting to get out there and take on the world with the world's favorite rock star, Hannah Montana.
The fun, rock beat of Best of Both Worlds will have you dancing and tapping your feet along with the fun drum beat; and This is the Life will chill you out, but leave you confident and ready to take on the world, in your own time. The Other Side of Me (one of my personal favorite songs)has a catchy beat and rhythm that'll have you on your feet and dancing in no time! I've Got Nerve sends that message "Hey, I have just as much potential as the rest of the world, and I'm not afraid to show it!" out in a catchy rock melody, while the beautiful If We Were a Movie alows you to sit back and relax. Just Like You has a fun beat, and Who Said (perhaps the song with the most country influence) will give you the confidence you need to do anything!
So, here I stop, as I think I've made my point. I would DEFINITELY go for this CD, it's sure to be a big hit!
Free Music Review: Miley Cyrus Renews My Faith In Modern Music Hit: 4 Stars
In my opinion, 2006 has been a generally poor year for mainstream music. My personal tastes have turned toward the indie rock scene, but there is still a big part of me that likes pop music and dance pop megastars like Kylie Minogue and Madonna. I never expected to be a fan of the Hannah Montana show at my age, but the show is surprisingly well done and I can compare it to the old TGIF lineup that I used to watch as a kid. A lot of the songs on the CD can be found played by Hannah Montana on the show. The songs are very positive, upbeat and cheery and while somewhat simple, one must be reminded that this CD was targed for a younger audience and Miley Cyrus was only 13 years old at the time of recording. I can describe her music as a mix of Hilary Duff and Michelle Branch. The Miley Cyrus songs are all very catchy, with my personal favorite being "If We Were a Movie". The only downside to this CD is that some of the tracks are not done by Miley Cyrus, but rather they are filler tracks from other artists and personally I did not like any of them. If you're a fan of the Hannah Montana show or a fan of positive pop rock or bubblegum pop music, I highly recommend this CD to you. Most kids will probably flock to this CD. On the TV show, Hannah Montana has to keep her pop star identity a secret. As for any open-minded adult that took a listen or two to this CD...I wouldn't doubt that all of them would then become secret fans of Hannah Montana.
