Free Music Review: Parents should support Hanson in your homes!

As a twenty-one year old law student, I may not seem to be the typical Hanson fan. I do, however, relate to these three boys in a profound way. Their music is undeniably fantastic pop-rock: Zac has got some great rhythm on the drums (and not just for his age!) while Taylor has the pop voice of the decade and Ike is a steady musician who knows when he's needed. Together, they make something musically very, very good. The magic of Hanson is not just their sound though. I (as a record store employee AND big fan) have watched all the videos, interviews, read all the magazines and books about them and have found that they are decent, loving, respectful, intelligent, young men with real values and hopes and aspirations. When our kids are now idolizing people like Kurt Cobain for shooting himself in the head, when nihilism and depravity are the norms, to have these little boys walk on stage and talk about how they love their baby sister and their parents and art and music and life is truly refreshing. I have nothing but admiration for Walker and Diana Hanson (their parents) who have raised seven children, three of which I can see are going to be incredible human beings and the other four I trust will be as well. Hanson should not only be embraced for their great tunes but for their ideal: they are sweet, smart, and genuinely good kids. Make these young men the role models for our children.
