Free Music Notes for The Best of Hanson Live and Electric (CD & DVD)Free Music Review: The Best Of Hanson Hit: 4 Stars
13 years, 9 albums, 6 Top 40 hits, 5 World Tours, and 16 million albums sold worldwide comes The Best Of Hanson: Live & Electric. The 15 track album includes most all of Hanson's hits from MMMBop to Penny & Me. Hanson delievers one hell of a performance recorded live this past June down under. The haunting opener, Radiohead's "Optimisitc", is killer. Taylor Hanson nails every note showing that he and his brothers aren't screwing around, they are a rock band in every sense of the word. "Every Word I Say" starts off slow, but moves into a powerful ending. The classic hit, "Where's The Love" is always a rocker. R&B driven "Look At You" is funky, rocky and is nothing but the best. "Strong Enough To Break" is no doubt a highlight of the album with its acoustic yet very electric feel. The album truely shines thru with Isaac Hanson's "Hand In Hand" if any doubters are out there, this track will make a believer out of you. Though the band's cover of U2's "In A Little While" never really takes off, it is still a nice addition. Bouns tracks "If Only", and "A Song To Sing" are essential to this album.
The music doesn't stop with track 15, the DVD bouns track "Crazy Beautiful" is nothing short of an anthem. Some bands release Best Of or Greatest Hits albums and then disappar. If anything, Live & Electric proves that Hanson will be around for years to come. Truely The Best Of Hanson.
Free Music Review: Good album but the same old songs Hit: 4 Stars
This album would probably have 5 stars had it not been a repeat of the same old songs. Some songs I was actually suprised to see on here. I think if you want to hear them live you'd be better off buying a ticket to a concert. But here is my rating for all the songs.
1.Optimistic-5/5 (A Radiohead cover)
2.Every Word I Say-5/5
3.Where's The Love-4/5
4.Look At Me-3/5 (What where they thinking putting this song on here)
5.Strong Enough To Break-5/5
6.I Will Come To You-5/5
7.Underneath-4/5
8.Hand in Hand-5/5 (Isaac does the song really good on here. It is better in this than on This Time Around)
9.In A Little While-5/5 (U2 cover song)
10.Penny&Me-4/5 (It would have gotten 5 but it always reminds me of Taylor's daughter)
11.MMMBop-5/5
12.This Time Around-5/5
13.Rock N Roll Razorblade-5/5
14.If Only-5/5
15.A Song To Sing-5/5
Overall Rating:4/5
Overall I liked most songs but not the fact that they were repeats. Also the sound wasn't that good but not that bad.

Free Music Review: Overall, a great album! Hit: 4 Stars
Live & Electric showcases live versions of the "best of" Hanson's music from 1997 'til the present. Having said that, the expected hit singles are here - MMMBop, Where's The Love, and I Will Come To You, Hanson's first and biggest singles from Middle of Nowhere; This Time Around and If Only from their sophomore record, This Time Around; Penny & Me and Underneath from Underneath; several other live favorites like Look At You, Hand in Hand, and Every Word I Say; and two great covers round out the album. Import versions of the album have even more material, like live versions of Hey (Australia), Believe (the UK), and In The City (Japan), to name a few.
The bonus DVD is decent; it includes live video of Crazy Beautiful & Being Me as well as complete music videos of Penny, Lost and two versions of Underneath.
If you like live Hanson, you should definately get this CD. It's a great representation of how far Hanson has come, musically, since 1997, and especially since their previous live album, Live From Albertane.
Free Music Review: The Music Lives but the Acoustic ROCKS!!! Hit: 4 Stars
This is a great album, don't get me wrong! However, I don't think it's as good as their acoustic concert. I purchased "Underneath Acoustic" before "Live & Electric" and was amazed by their mature harmonious sound in the acoustic concert, having not heard any of their music since "This Time Around" album. The "Live & Electric" concert wasn't as clear and concise and actually left me a little disappointed. My 5 year old son and myself love "Penny & Me" and couldn't wait to play it, but after hearing it, went back to the acoustic version. I don't know, maybe in my middle age I prefer their softer sound!!!
Anyway, rock on boys and as Taylor's t-shirt says "THE MUSIC LIVES"
Free Music Review: Overall, it's a good album. Hit: 4 Stars
I picked up the CD on the 14th at FYE, and really didn't expect it to be anything special. I was wrong. It'a a good album overall. I really like the covers they did, although the younger kids out there have no clue that these are covers, by U2 and Radiohead. I give it 4 stars.
