Free Music Notes for This Time AroundFree Music Review: better with age Hit: 5 Stars
As a Hanson fan, I did not know what to expect with this album, and now I am very pleasantly surprised at what these boys have cooked up. 'This Time Around' is a great transition album for them as they go from former pop-idols to working there way up to rock-superstars. There really isn't any one category you can fit this CD under because there is so much experimentation. And that's definetely not a bad thing. It means that they are open and willing to look at all types of music. "You Never Know" opens up the CD with a bit of funk, guitar charged all the way through, and a chorus that will stick in your head forever. "Sure About It" has the same nonsensical-but-deep lyrics and is vaguely reminiscent of 'Mmmbop' but not so much it makes you gag with nostalgia. The truly fun tracks are "Can't Stop" and "In The City" which have raw energy that propels wonderful vocals (listen to Isaac's tick-tocks and Taylor's growl). "I Wish That I Was There" will stick in your head forever and you'll find yourself humming it *everywhere*. But the real treat on this album is "A Song To Sing". "A Song To Sing" is probably my favorite track on the album simply because the lyrics are honest, and they are conveyed beautifully by longing, whispering vocals and a billowy, brilliant piano behind it all. This is a must have for *every* one.
Free Music Review: Its hard to explain how much I love this CD. Hit: 5 Stars
Well, this CD rocks. It is the best one I've heard in a while, probabbly even my favorite CD ever. Let me just say, that if you are interested enought in this album to even be reading this review, buy it now! Its so worth it! These guys have got an incredibly large amount of talent. I really like every single track. I wasn't a Hanson fan really before, I actually didn't buy "Middle of Nowhere" until after I fell in love with "This Time Around". I listen to this CD everyday. The lyrics are very inspirational and the music rocks! I mean, sure there are the love songs just like everyother album but Hanson even manage to put true meaning in those songs! Songs like "Dying to be alive" and "This Time Around" are just amazing. Those are two of my favs. My ultimate favorite on this album is probabbly "Runaway Run" though, I don't see how anyone could possibly not like that song! If you don't buy this album for any other reason, buy it to hear "Wish That I was There". Zac sings that song and his voice has actually gotten LOWER than his two older brothers! I don't know why this album isn't topping the charts, but it certainly should be. Trust me, take a chance on this album, you wont regret it! Hanson is now my favorite band. These three brothers should be around for a long long time! Go Hanson!
Free Music Review: this is Hanson? Hit: 5 Stars
Dont get me wrong with that title, I liked Hanson's debut alubm. I am a fan of all music, from Metal to Classical. I listen to my share of POP bands and I enjoy them for what they are. Most goups have a single sound, that inst a bad thing. They stick to their genre and hopefully get better over time. Few groups have expanded beyond their basic genre. (U2 seems to be an exception, they seem to reinvent themselves everytime...and successfully I might add) So when I heard that Hanson was coming out with a new album I was think here comes the return of MMMbop....well I am happy to say I was wrong. Not that I would have been disappointed with another album like their debut, but with this album they prove they are more than a one pony show. This album along with Sister Hazel's Fortress are two of the best CDs I've picked up this year....and I've picked up 60+ so far this year. Hanson has definitely matured. The amazing thing to me is that the 3 Hanson kids actually write their own music. I can't say that any one song sticks out....because they ALL do. I hope more people will give this album a chance....this is definitely not MMbop part 2. I think if Hanson contiues to grow at the pace they've seem to since the last album then they are a group we will continue to hear from for many many years to come.....and that is a good thing
Free Music Review: I will always love them! Hit: 5 Stars
There was something about Hanson that captivated me right away! However, after awhile, i decided to grow up & let the fanatic enthusiasem rest. When the seconed album came, i didn't think i would buy it; when i heard the released singles, i thought they were 'nice' as well as 'ok'. Not too long ago, a friend of mine sent me a copy of " This time around" , and i was amayzed! this album has maneged to lift my spirits up like *almost* nothing has! - It was my 'Prozak'. Each song features a different sound & a unick feeling to it; The beautiful harmonies & Taylor's soulful, powerful voice, gives the songs 'feeling' & 'life' -('Dying to be alive','Save me','Love song','A song to sing','This time around')-Those songs 'draw' you right into their 'seane' and make you exepirence & feel the story told. Other tracks like - 'You never know','If only', 'Run away run' & 'Wish that i was there',manage to carve an instent smile on your face, & gives the earge to sing & dance along; while songs like 'Can't stop' & 'In the city' pull you right off your chair with the impolse to dance until you drop! (; Hanson embraces wisdom, sincerity, maturity & a genuan honest approch-( which very few in the music buizness have), It shows in their music! By all means, buy this album!
Free Music Review: HANSON ARE NOW MEN! Hit: 5 Stars
This disc rocks and this is coming from a man who hated thembefore! Every song on here is just about a gem and the songwriting isunbelievable, especially you consider the ages of these kids. There is no MMMBOP in the future anymore because the maturity level just jumped leaps and bounds! I am sure the brothers will look back on that when they get older and have a laugh just like the Britney Spears and Backstreet Boys of the world. The only difference is that Hanson will be making the path to the Rocknroll Hall of Fame, the others will be on VH1'S "WHERE ARE THEY NOW"? Guys if your reading this, stick with your guns and don't sell out to anybody. You are not the flavor of the month! You will perservere unlike your peers and be true to yourselves! No boy band here, just a great band who do play their own instruments, write their own songs, and don't rap! Everthing you have to do to be famous these days is just the opposite so it is nice to go against the grain. I can't believe I am typing this about Hanson because before I hated them to the core. It's just goes to show you how young they are and it takes a while to learn how to ride that bicycle. They learned alright and now they are ready for their class 3! The disc is that good!
