The one Chapin collection to have, The Gold Medal Collection will satisfy almost everyone. His stories captivate like few other singer songwriters. Has anyone ever told a story about finding a lost love better than "Taxi"? I don't think so. Hearing it will make you think that somehow, somewhere, against all the odds, that long ago lost (but never forgotten) love. Of course, just when the wound had healed, he released "Sequel", which started the whole process again. Those two along are worth the price. But "Cats in the Cradle", "Remember When"... There is no sense in listing them all. A great collection

Whether dressed in Chapin's colorful humor and irony, or cloaked in the somber tones of pain that this songwriter sensed in others, any listener will find their own life stories unfolding as the music plays. There are many meanings woven into the layers of words and harmony that Harry Chapin took care to create. The compositions on this CD will make you laugh and sometimes move you to tears, but most of all you will learn not only about humanity but about yourself as well. This album is a lot more than a political statement. It is a collection of some of the greatest stories ever told. "Taxi" is a classic, Everybody knows "Cats In The Cradle", and "Better Place To Be" is a classic story. The music is good too. "Mr. Tanner" shows what a great band he has behind him. The sound bites from Harry and why he spent much of his time giving to charity, are priceless! If you are a Harry Chapin fan this is a must for your CD rack.
