Free Music Notes for Greatest Stories LiveFree Music Review: Songs from one of the greatest songwriters / singers ever Hit: 5 StarsI was there in Spokane,WA at one of his concerts, was the first onto the stage when he asked for volunteer's to help sing "Cat's in The Cradle" - one of my favorite songs. He was a special person with a knack for writing special music - all of his music is well worth listening to. This particular CD is special since it shows the diversity and depth of his many songs. We miss you Harry.
Free Music Review: For True Harry Chapin Fans Hit: 4 StarsThis album satisfies your craving for some quality music that relaxes your whole body. I started not liking the music at first, but after listening to a friends cd a couple of times I started wanting more. I realized this album was the best with the best choice of his songs for anywhere especially in a long or short car drive to settle yourself. I recommend this album to anyone who is tired of all of the other stuff.
Free Music Review: excellent Hit: 5 StarsGets one thinking about life. Songs are a bit beautiful. Harry is sometimes sarcastic, but he sings the songs well. I don't like him using God's name in vain in one of the songs. This is the only criticism that I see. He's singing about a woman talking, so that's the way it came out. This is a good tape.
Free Music Review: It doesn't get any better that this! Hit: 5 StarsLet me start out by saying that I was nine years old when Harry died in the tragic car accident. I remember my parents going to a concert of his in Indianapolis and saying that it was the best concert they had ever seen. I began listening to my parent's tape of Harry when I was around 18 driving back & forth from college to home on the weekends. Needless to say there weren't many kids my age into Harry, but I love his work. You can't help but sing along with Harry (and the crowd) on 30,000 pounds of Bananas. There have been several albums since this one, but 'Stories' captures the absolute best of Harry. Harry is at his best live. The 'Bottom Line' collection is also good, but 'Stories' is still the best collection to date. It's interesting to note the difference in Harry's voice from 'Stories' (recorded in 1976) to 'Bottom Line' (recorded in 1980.) The road must have been hard on Harry because his voice is much rougher & deeper in "Bottom Line.' Anyway, buy this album - it's a true classic!
Free Music Review: This is Harry Chapin's personal "Best Of" album Hit: 5 StarsHarry was approached with the idea of making a "best of" album. This was what he came up with. A collection of takes from a live concert tour of the west coast. Sure, Chapin's emotional world may be somewhat "irony 101". But there is a truth to these songs that will have the power to leave the listener emotionally conquered. Exceptional sonics (far better than the studio versions) really captivate Harry's gift of storytelling. The cellist and added vocals also get a chance to shine in a way that will surprise new listeners.
