Free Music Notes for Midnight Cowboy: Original Motion Picture ScoreFree Music Review: Good souvenir ! Hit: 4 Stars
Good souvenir from the original motion picture but the best song (sung in two different ways) is "Everybody's talking", performed by Nilsson. These two versions are different from the studio version found in the current CD's of our singer.
Free Music Review: The movie is better... Hit: 3 Stars
I'm not all that impressed on the soundtrack from this hit film. Maybe it's because I'm a child of the 70's and 80's, and can't appreciate it? That being said, the first track "Everybody's Talkin'" probably is the most popular song, and the only song that comes to mind when thinking about "Midnight Cowboy." But, I have to admit that I was very impressed with the "Midnight Cowboy" track itself. The lonely, errie harmonica brings you to a different place with its power and strikingly different sound. "Fun City", "Old Man Willow", and "Science Fiction" are all different, and worth a listen. The other songs didn't do me either way. Worth a shot for more reasons than Nilsson's "Everybody's Talkin'".
Free Music Review: Good, but spotty in areas Hit: 3 Stars
I finally faced it; I know that the song "Midnight Cowboy" can reduce me to tears, make me want to curl up in a fetal position, but let's check out the rest of this. It's actually not bad. Most of the John Barry material is a loser, and "Everybody's Talkin" is a rather weak song that booted out Bob Dylan's "Lay Lady Lay" as that was the original song to be the highlight on here. The stuff from Garry Sherman, and Elephant's Memory are pretty choice cuts. I still have yet to watch the movie, so I will have to do that next.
Free Music Review: Everybody's Listening? Hit: 3 Stars
When you hear the opening track you think this is going to be a great album, but then you start skiping track. The reason: Besides Harry Nilsson song of Everybody's Talking and John Barry instrumental the rest are awful. But don't think is a bad album. To listing the wounderful harmonica of Jean Toots Thilemans on Barry's movie theme is worth the album. I feel that Nilsson interpretation of Everybody's Talking with John Barry melody and arragements is a timeless song.
Free Music Review: Toots Thielemans Correction Hit: 3 Stars
Though I agree with most of the previous reviews, I was disappointed to see (hear) that Toots Thielemans is not to be found on this recording. He is also not mentioned anywhere on the albums credits.
He was used in the original score for the film, but according to his manager "Toots" was not included on this album.
I would not have purchased this CD if I had known this in advance.
