Free Music Notes for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]Free Music Review: Different, but good... Hit: 5 Stars
I just bought the new soundtrack for Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. It has been a tradition for me to go out the day each one comes out and get it. I was sad to find out that John Williams is no longer the "music man" for the Harry Potter productions, but as I found out I am beginning to like Patrick Doyle's take on how the music should sound. I like the Celtic/Scottish feel of some of the tracks. However, my favorite track is the Hogwarts march because of the brass ensemble which performs it. I am always in awe of a brass ensemble that can sound that good. You may not like the change, because the original harry potter feel is gone. However, with change in the story line comes change in the music...
Free Music Review: That was bloody brilliant!!! Hit: 5 Stars
Yes! Thank you! Finally something I actually want to listen to! Not saying I didn't like John Williams rendition of Harry Potter but come on, it was getting a little old. i was very excited to hear something new! and i think Patrick Doyle really caught the feeling of the Goblet of Fire which is my favorite book of all the series. harry is growing up. this book is also the turning point of the series. things needed to change. less of the baby stuff and more of a mature harry potter( this film is rated pg-13 after all). my fingers are crossed for the movie. please let it be good. Once again i want to say Thank you Patrick Doyle!!! Hope to hear you again on the future harry potter soundtracks.
Free Music Review: Doyle brings echoes of Elgar and Holst to a fine GoF score Hit: 5 Stars
While I too love John Williams, I think Patrick Doyle's talents are well suited to GoF. He's great at pageant-like grand entrances (listent to "Foreign Visitors Arrive") and at Elgar-style dirges (listen to "Another Year Ends," which I think is actually a funeral hymn for Cedric, and "Hogwarts Hymn" -- very Elgarian). The opening bars of the movie will remind some listeners of "Mars, Bringer of War" from Holst's "The Planets."
As to the Jarvis Cocker pop cuts at the end, I thank the previous reviewers for their guidance as to what genres these belong to. To me, they're lots of fun, but the main point remains with Doyle's swelling anthem-tunes and orchestral wizardry.
Free Music Review: Potter Soundtrack....Change is Good! Hit: 5 Stars
I was wary when I first heard John Williams would not be back to score the film.
His Harry Potter theme is awesome, and essentially is the heart of the story. Thankfully, Patrick Doyle recreated his own vision beautifully, and still managed to keep the overall theme brought to life by John Williams.
The tracks are darker in tone, just like the movie, but also have their own feel to them. I especially enjoy "Foriegn Visitors Arrive", "The Quidditch World Cup", and the "Hogwarts March".
It's a great soundtrack, especially for any diehard Harry Potter fans....The melodies are also very beatiful to listen to, even though they come in short bits.
Free Music Review: Absolutely lovely! Hit: 5 Stars
The soundtrack to Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has been my favorite of them all (so far). I don't know what took me so long to get this CD. I see the scenes in my head when I listen, of course I've seen the movie probably 50 times, but it's very vivid. Neville's Waltz, Harry in Winter, Death of Cedric and when I watch the movie and Another Year Ends is playing, I get very emotional. Music is very powerful and can make a strong connection to a movie. I will cherish all my HP movies forever and the music has so much to do with that. This composer nailed it, he has as much to do with the success of this film and anyone else involved. He has brought you in the moment.
