Free Music Notes for Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban [Original Motion Picture Soundtrack]

Free Music Review: One of William's finest works
Hit: 5 Stars

I absolutely looooovvvve movie soundtracks, particularly those done by John Williams. And while I am most certainly no fan of the Harry Potter books, when I saw that he was the composer of this CD I had to get it.
Whimsical, mysterious, and breathtakingly gorgeous this is by far one of my favorite CDs.
My favorite song "A Window to the Past" Is by far one of the best pieces ever written. It starts out with an entire minute of alto recorder solo. Being one of the few people who play this instrument I was instantly hooked. Slowly the music swells into a breathtaking sea of music, each instrument in perfect harmony with the next.
One song however, is quite annoying. Double Trouble is the an obnoxious little piece sung by the London Boys choir. Put to the famous lyrics of the three witches in "Macbeth" It is helpful is you are memorizing the play, but downright bothersome in any other case.
You can tell that each song has been touched by John William's brilliance and somewhat reminiscant of a medieval style. Overall I love it and highly recommend it to all.

Free Music Review: Excellent
Hit: 5 Stars

By far the best of the Harry Potter scores so far. A few of these tracks--most notably "Buckbeak's Flight" and "Finale" are easily among the best cues that Williams has ever written. "Aunt Marge's Waltz" is also delightfully evocative of her character, and "A Window to the Past" presents the theme for the new Azkaban film in a kind of main title. "Saving Buckbeak," "The Patronus Light," and "Quidditch, Third Year" are all extremely enjoyable.

Williams managed to create a more turbulent score for the darker atmosphere of The Prisoner of Azkaban, yet he also wrote some truly magnificent themes. In the theater, Buckbeak's flight is almost transcendent, and so much of the credit is owed to Williams' score. As usual, Williams' musical ingenuity is visible for all to see.

This may not be in Williams' top five best scores, or even the top ten (let's face it, this guy has done so well so many times), but a few cues in this score rank up there with the best in Williams' career. Truly astounding effort.

Free Music Review: Williams' Best Harry Potter Score
Hit: 5 Stars

It's my personal opinion that the scores of Harry Potter have been going up in quality and, more importantly, magic. John Williams created his best Harry Potter score ever.
In spite that some of the familiar themes are missing in the movie, -and, consequently, on the CD -Williams manages to create such a wonderful new voice to Harry Potter. Hedwig's theme is definitely heard in here. Besides, we have an interesting variety of rhythms this time around: there is jazz on 'The Knight Bus', and waltz on 'Aunt Marge's Waltz'; and those are the funniest tracks of the score. Of course, since this is a Williams work, there are spectacular musical moments as evidenced in tracks like 'Buckbeak's Flight', 'Quidditch, Third Year', and 'Lupin's Transformation And Chasing Scabbers'. And I don't want to forget 'A Window To The Past', which is a tender piece that appears when Harry remembers his parents; such a beautiful track.
This is a great album that truly proves that John Williams, like Harry Potter, still has got the magic to create such fantastic work.

Free Music Review: the composer who lived
Hit: 5 Stars

after the legendary composer john towner williams composed two j.k rowlings best selling book adaption of the popular harry potter films, it appears that the third book to movie installment the prisoner of azkaban john williams is able to push his orchestral compostion for the third book to film to its limits, it begins with the famous hedwig's theme on the first track which is also labled lumos fortunitly hedwig's theme is givin a revamped from the first two harry potter scores the version seem less playful then the first two which indicates that the third year at hogwarts school of witchcraft and wizardry for the boy who lived harry potter will be much more dangerious and suspensful then harry potter ever encounterd until goblet of fire that is, to make it short the highlights of the score is double trouble and a window to the past,
so overall if your a williams fan, harry potter fan, classical music fan, or your a person who wants good music will no dought pick up this wicked soundtrack as ron weasly would say until then ESPECTO PATRONUM !!!!!!!

Free Music Review: Breaking new ground
Hit: 5 Stars

I concur with many of the other reviewers who mention that this score is a departure from the others -- though still very much in the John Williams' genre of music. In fact, listening to some of the tracks ("Buckbeak's Flight" for example), I was reminded more of the soaring themes of "Star Wars" than of either of the two previous HP movies.

I own all three scores, and have no complaints against the first two, as a matter of fact. Lovely music. The score for "Prisoner of Azkaban," however, breaks new ground from the first two, and the result is a masterful and varied collection of music -- from the familiar "Lumos" to "Double Trouble" (featured in advance advertisements) to the haunting strains of "A Window to the Past" and so on, through the rest of the score, Williams has upped the ante to create a truly remarkable musical journey. This third volume makes me eager to see what kind of music Williams could create someday for the complex and emotionally-laden "Order of the Phoenix".
