Free Music Notes for The Fantasticks (Original 1960 Off-Off Broadway Cast)

Free Music Review: "The Fantasticks". Still a hit .
Hit: 5 Stars

This cd has all the qualities of a musical that can be listened to over and over again. The songs are crisp and clean. The music is timeless. The story line is universal. Two young lovers trying to
find their way in a complicated world. Two fathers who want only the best for their children. One anti-hero who manipulates them all.
The songs could have been sappy or too sentimental but, instead
run the gammet from hysterical to very romantic.I highly
recommend this cd to everyone.

Free Music Review: Jerry Orbach Was One of the Best!
Hit: 5 Stars

While I did know that Mr. Orbach was a very talented Broadway star before he became the very cynical curmudgeony Lenny Briscoe on "Law and Order" I never knew that he was one of the first to do "The Fantasticks" or that his was the rich voice behind one of the most loved songs of the past century, "Try to Remember"...

Broadway singer, dancer and star and Drama hero, Jerry Orbach did it all.

"Lenny", we will remember, and we'll never forget you, Jerry Orbach. Rest in Peace.

I was 16 1/2 the first time I saw this play at a College Theater Performance. I fell in love. I bought the play in paperback and started memorizing. I would sit in my room repeating - I'm Special, I'm Special, Please God Please don't let me be Normal!

In the 70's I would sing along with "I can see it" I introduced my stepdaughter to "Never say no" I've seen the play many times and it makes me smile every time I see it or listen to the music at home or work.

Free Music Review: Update-new Revival at Snapple Theatre in NYC
Hit: 5 Stars

I had this original cast album on an LP in the 1960's while in college and now ordered the CD after seeing a great revival production in New York last week. It's at the Snapple Theatre, just a few steps off Broadway, in a small venue on the third floor. The best part is that Tom Jones, who wrote the original book and lyrics, plays the Old Actor! He is wonderful! Look for him in the playbill under the name "Thomas Bruce." If you are in New York and love this show, don't miss it.

What can I say? The soundtrack of this wonderful show is just terrific. I grew up two blocks from the Sullivan Street Playhouse where this show had it's run. In 1968 my husband (then fiance) and I saw the show and have loved it ever since. We've owned the sound track on LP and now we're enjoying the CD immensely. Brings back lots of good memories. I especially like hearing Jerry Orbach's voice on the CD.
