Free Music Review: somewhere between old school and new school

thrash is thrash no matter what and Hatchet really embodies it. they are really simple rather in their approach. their CD is made to look like a 1980's CD, but their music really comes blazing out of the gates. I like the instrumental that comes first. if you like old and new thrash, this album is for you. I recommend this if you like Sacred Reich, old Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Overkill, Exodus, Testament, Defiance, Sodom, Destruction, Kreator, Merciless Death, Sadus, Bonded By Blood, Gama Bomb, Forbidden, Death Angel, Metal Church, and Flotsam and Jetsam. I have yet to listen to other thrash metal bands that I have not mentioned.

Hatchet's debut 2008 album, Awaiting Evil, is where the band has vowed to wage war on false metal, sparing none who dare to oppose them. When Hatchet emerged, the Bay area scene was not very welcoming to their trash sound. Thrash had become a forgotten musical form in the bay area. Driven and determined, they adopted the D.I.Y. ethic reminiscent of the punk rock style common in the early 80's.
