DOES NOT TRANSLATE WELL TO CD.

Obviously, this was a filmed concert from this year, with Heart doing all of Dreamboat Annie plus five other songs. It is 70 minutes long.

I wanted to love this CD. After all, Dreamboat Annie is still Heart's best album and one of the best rock albums of all time. But, there are several things wrong with this CD, and it is better to just buy the DVD instead.

It has a slightly strange sound quality to it. It sounds like is was mixed specifically to go along with a video. It just has the presence like it is coming from your TV, as if it were recorded from a TV program.

Also, the sound quality is not great. I would suggest getting the DVD with the enhanced sound.

The performance is very good is some spots but bad in others. Ann Wilson's voice is just horrible in parts. It is like is has been strained or as if she had a cold. Also, the guitar playing is fairly inept in a few spots.

I also don't like that all of the talking between songs was included on the CD. It is fine to have on the DVD, where you are watching a filmed concert. But, on CD, I just want to hear the music.

There are some very good things to this CD. They play all the songs differently than on the studio album and slightly differently than they have done live before. So, you aren't just getting the same old thing again (I think I have 7 different versions of Magic Man and most of them sound alike).

It is great to hear Heart play the other tracks from this album, besides the hits. I always thought that Song of the Sea was one of their best songs. It is great to hear here live (even though Ann Wilson has trouble with the vocals and Nancy Wilson has some problems with the guitar parts).

There is also a string ensanble backing up Heart on several songs. They are used very effectivily.

But, the best thing on the CD is not the Dreamboat Annie songs, but an extremely good version of Mistral Wind.

The choice of encores is very interesting, including a Pink Floyd and a Who song. As always, there is a Led Zepplin cover. The first time I saw Heart (just after Dreamboat Annie came out) I thought that they must idolize Led Zepplin, based on the performance and guitar playing. And then Fischer pulls out a double neck guitar, and then plays another guitar with a violin bow (both trademarks of Jimmy Page). And then finally, the played Zepplin's Rock and Roll.

I would give the concert and performance 3 to 4 stars (probably 4 stars). I give the CD only 2 stars because of the sound issues. It isn't horrible sound. It is just why buy this CD when you can get a superior sounding DVD. If you have to play this in your car, you can rip the sound out of the DVD and record it on to a CD or put it into Itunes(there's lots of software available to digitally rip sound off of a DVD).

Free Music Review: Roger Fisher... where are you?
Hit: 2 Stars

Ann & Nancy Wilson have to eat, pay their mortgage, and buy gas, but when they act as if they were the only two members of Heart... well... phooey. I saw Heart in their 70's heyday, and I can tell you that I definitely checked out Ann (hot chick playing guitar... go figure), but what I will always remember is Roger Fisher. Possibly, one of the hottest guitarists of the 70's... and one of the least well known.

Remember the intro to Crazy on You, Magic Man etc. etc.... that was Roger Fisher. Only the Wilson's and Fisher know the reasons for their breakup... there's lots of rumors out there... suffice it to say that Fleetwood Mac definitely handled their in-band relationships better. Come on... thirty years have passed and Roger Fisher still plays music somewhere?

Anyway, there is no Heart - Dreamboat Annie without the original lineup. This is just a money grab by Heart. If they ever reunite the real Heart... I'll be the first in line for those tickets.

Free Music Review: Now they can play theme parks and street fests for a few more years

They have a hell of a lot of nerve doing this without Roger Fisher and Steve Fossen, not to mention Howie.

Free Music Review: the PQRS wave has flatlined
Hit: 1 Stars

An awful rendition of a great album (when I bought this album I was under the impression I was getting an actual 1977 concert---!!!). Roger Fisher gave Heart the PQRS wave , after he left the music flatlined. The expansive musical net was lost and cheesy pop songs-tinged with hair - metal prevailed. Don't waste your money ,find a 1977 concert to download (no cd apparently is available) or listen to their show(s) on WOLFGANG'S VAULTS. Ann Wilson's vocals are awful as she's out of sync with the band --she screams the lyrics at a pitch equivalent to Celine Dion--it's very annoying!
