Free Music Notes for Heart - Greatest Hits: 1985-1995Free Music Review: Excellent collection of their '80s/90s hits Hit: 5 Stars
I think that Heart had a great run of hits from '85 to '95. I actually like the Bad Animals' hits more than the formulaic hits from Heart. And the songs from '90 and '93 were some superb songs. They tended to do more power ballads like These Dreams, What About Love, Alone, and Will You Be There In the Morning, but rocked it on Who Will You Run To and Wild Child. In some ways, Ann and Nancy Wilson made some dynamic rock songs and I liked that one of the sisters got to sing lead on one song after the other one sang so many. The other band members provided solid backing on the music. The shift of producers from Ron Nevison to Richie Zito made their songs more muscular. It's good to hear that they're still at it with their latest album that came out during 2004 and that they will be touring in 2005!
Free Music Review: Great summary of "2nd coming" of Heart Hit: 5 Stars
Yes I like the old stuff by this band, but you also have to be impressed with the way they reinvented themselves in the mid '80's. This collection is pretty much in chronological order from their comeback hit "What About Love" to the title track off of their 1995 acoustic album "The Road Home." Great mix of rockers and ballads--which is for sure what this band was all about during this era. Unlike some others, I also like the inclusion of the Ann Wilson/Robin Zander duet. Heart for sure is one of the premiere female-led rock acts of all time. Listen to their early greatest hits album followed by this one; it says it all about how much great rock this band has made. An excellent collection.
Free Music Review: Greatest hits, Big hair and power ballads! Hit: 5 Stars
For us true-blue fans, this is a must have. The liner notes are classy and bode well for the dynamic duo of rock, the Wilson sisters. The music, while great, is nothing new. There is a nice/rare studio version of You're the Voice. I recomend this CD to all who really enjoy wide ranging power ballads from one of the GREATEST voices in Rock and Roll, Ann Wilson. The offsetting style of Nancy Wilson serves as a melodic interlude with a softer flavor between Ann's tremendous whailing power and range!I hope they go on forever and one day soon wave the HEART banner with a totally new/original CD. BUY IT!
Free Music Review: A Very Complete Compilation of Hits Hit: 5 Stars
I bought this CD recently, and was not disappointed. I've been a fan of Heart since their first album in 1976. This CD thoroughly covers all their hits from the Capitol Records days from 85 through 95. All the melodic rockers as well as their ballads are on this album. The only small hit missing is "Want You So Bad" from the "Bad Animals" album. I was very pleased to see "There's The Girl" and "If Looks Could Kill" on this CD,since these 2 songs get very little airplay on the radio anymore. This is a very good buy, seeing there are 18 songs on a single CD.
Free Music Review: Hooked on Heart Hit: 5 Stars
My roommate got me hooked on Heart's rock music. I was surprised at how many songs on this album I knew just from radio play when I was younger. The Wilson sisters have a vocal blend unparalleled in any musical genre. From the power ballads like These Dreams to the controversial, yet gripping, All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You, the sounds and lyrics of Heart's music resound. My favorite song is Will You Be There (In The Morning). When you listen to this song, pay close attention to the background vocals. The high, powerful sounds will give you goose bumps!
