Free Music Notes for Hedwig and the Angry Inch

Free Music Review: A Must Own...
Hit: 5 Stars

I don't just throw five star ratings around, but this record honestly earns it...and how! It is one of the best rock/pop albums of the last several years. For me, it evokes David Bowie, circa Hunky Dory. Mitchell's voice is superb, Trask's songwriting is unparalleled, and the Angry Inch's (featuring Bob Mould) musicianship is all top drawer, flowing between grinding rock (Angry Inch, Exquisite Corpse, Nailed) and epic balladeering (Origin of Love, Wicked Little Town, The Long Grift) seamlessly, while most other tracks shine brilliantly somewhere inbetween. There are too many standout tracks on this record to note only a few for evidence; there is literally not a single weak track. The album stands strongly on its own without requiring the listener to first see the film, however the film certainly provides a background for the songs that provide an added depth and resonance. This was my single favorite album of 2001.

Free Music Review: It is Clear that i must find My Other Half
Hit: 5 Stars

Obviously if your considering buying this soundtrack, you must have seen the movie, if not, please exit and go to the Video Store and rent this movie, Trust me you will love it, and then come back here and buy this album. WHY? Well let me give you a couple of reasons
1) You can really outright dance, and sing out loud to these songs, I clean my house to this album, and find myself possessed by Hedwig herself with my broom, or vacuum, my cats know all the words also and groove right along with me.
2) It has everything, Ballads, rock, sing a-longs, so much emotion, so much fun, you don't want it to be over
3) Origin of love....the best storytelling in a song I have heard in many many years. My second favorite is Angry Inch (My first day as a woman, already its that time of the month!).

So, do your inner ear a favor and bathe it in the music that is Hedwig

Free Music Review: You can't tear her down
Hit: 5 Stars

When my friend introduced me to the movie I fell in love with the music immediately and since he gave me the soundtrack I've been listening to it non-stop.

All the songs on the soundtrack are great in their own right but a couple of the best have to be Wig in A Box and The Origin of Love. Wig in a box starts out slow but quickly turns into an upbeat song about optimism. The Origin of Love is Hedwig's unique view on how this crazy feeling us humans feel called love came to be.

These songs all range from touching songs about love to sad songs about abandoment to songs i'm sure everyone can relate to about being confused and not knowing who they are or what they're supposed to be to things we give up to fit pople's view of us to finding happiness on your own.

Free Music Review: Hedwig Rocks!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a brazilian moviegoer, unfortunatelly movies takes some time to open here in Brazil, but that's OK. Hedwig and the angry inch was much praised by the press, and I was kinda anxious to see it, it took a long time as always but I went to see it. Being a musical fan I should definetly check it out. The movie turned out to be great, with marvellous songs that simply can touch our hearts. I was amazed with the song "Origin of Love" it really blew my out and another that is wonderful is "Wig in a Box". John Cameron Mitchell was a total stranger to me, but now I know that he rocks! This is a truly inspired musical that'll be remembered for a long time! and I hope that his career keeps growing!

Free Music Review: Great songs
Hit: 5 Stars

I liked the movie, but not to the point of loving it. Had you asked me outside the theater whether I bought the CD I'd have answered "probably not". But then Hedwig's magic caught on and I caught myself humming "Wig in a box". Then I caught myself humming "Midnight radio". And then "The Origin of Love". So I understood I had to buy the CD.
It's a great CD with great music. In addition to the songs mentioned here above, I recommend "Wicked little town" (both versions), "angry inch" and "tear me down".
All in all, this CD contains a surprising number of very good songs.
I still don't feel the need for the DVD.
