Free Music Notes for Definitive Hits AlbumFree Music Review: Really, a VERY POOR selection to be considered a "Definitive Hits" one! Hit: 1 Stars
Since I was a child (back in the 60s) and my old man played his wonderful LPs "Whipped Cream... and other delights", "Going Places" and "What Now My Love", I discovered that Herb Alpert is an outstanding, crafted, very talented musician. However, these weird "compilators" in Universal Music have the idea of issuing a one-CD "Definitive Hits" collection, where they put some of the best tunes from HA Tijuana-Brass era, and others from his solo career. But... the sad news is that they didn't include some of the VERY BEST tunes from both parts of Herb Alpert's music career. Not a single tune from "Noche de Amor", "Bullish" (when in the 80s Alpert calls back the Tijuana Brass and makes a beutiful album), not even the superb theme "Red Hot" from his "Beyond" album. However, themes with no musical importance at all, such as "Diamonds" (because it features Janet Jackson???), "Keep Your Eye On Me" and "Making Love In The Rain" have been included in this compilation as "definitive hits"... Come on, Universal Music people... Are you pretending to pull my leg???
I really appreciate this recent Christmas gift. Anyway the people of Universal Music, deserves a very loud "BOOOH!" for such a poor compilation on this "Definitive Hits". It should have been issued as a double-CD, triple CD or even a 4-box compilation.
Be sure that I and other serious Herb Alpert fans, would be happy to pay the price tag for it!
